Surf Life Saving Tasmania http://www.slst.asn.au Our movement is a part of the history, fabric and future of this country. It protects life, it saves life, it promotes life.

Surf Life Saving in Tasmania is a volunteer based not-for-profit community service association and is the key agency for beach safety in Tasmania. Surf Life Saving Tas provides an essential educational and emergency rescue service to all users of Tasmanian beaches and plays a fundamental role in building healthy communities. Through a new exciting merger, SLST supports the Tasmanian Police with inland, inshore and offshore search and rescue services state wide. It represents the lifestyle, values and beliefs of the Australian culture. We create a safe environment in and around our beaches, through patrols on, in and above the shore and through education and training programs. Surf Life Saving is the largest volunteer movement of its kind in Australia. We are a not-for-profit movement that exists only through community donations, fundraising and corporate sponsorship. Our activities address many community and Government policies such as safer communities, obesity, physical activity, youth development, training and education, and family. Surf Life Saving Tasmania comprises a State centre, 22 Surf Life Saving clubs and services located around the coastline and over 3,000 members who are all committed to saving lives and positively impacting on their local communities. Surf Life Saving Tasmania is afflilated with Surf Life Saving Australia and the International Lifesaving Federation

New Public Rescue Equipment is now in place at Clifton Beach 🛟

City of Clarence Departing Mayor Brendan Blomeley, SLST CEO Tony van den Enden and Clifton Beach Surf Life Saving Club President Matthew Clingeleffer were at Clifton Beach to mark the new station last month. It’s one of two in Clarence, with the other at Bellerive Beach.

Each station has a rescue tube, clear instructions and a location code that helps emergency services find you quickly, especially outside patrol hours. Call Triple Zero (000) first, and never put yourself at risk.

Delivered in partnership with the City of Clarence and Clifton Beach SLSC, and funded by the Australian Government through the Beach Drowning Blackspot Reduction Program 👏

Before you head down to the club, check your Nipper is wearing:
✅ Long sleeve high-vis rash shirt (or high-vis over a stinger suit/wetsuit)
✅ Sun-safe hat for all non-water activities

PLUS the essentials: Nipper cap, water bottle, towel and sunscreen. See the full checklist 👇

New wheels for Wynyard! 🚙🌊

Wynyard Volunteer Marine Rescue has received a new Can-Am Defender side-by-side through the 2025/26 BRP Equipment Grant.

The Defender will help our volunteers get crew and gear where they’re needed quickly. The grant is part of Surf Life Saving Australia’s 15-year partnership with BRP, which has put more than $10.5 million worth of lifesaving equipment into the hands of clubs and services across the country.

A huge thank you to BRP, Can-Am and Surf Life Saving Australia for backing our volunteers on the North-West Coast. 💛❤️

Last weekend, we marked an important milestone for coastal safety, with Public Rescue Equipment (PRE) stations installed at Clifton, Bellerive and Park Beaches. 🛟

The milestone was celebrated at Park Beach on Saturday with Sorell Council Mayor Janet Gatehouse, Surf Life Saving Tasmania Manager Lifesaving Services Ned Reardon and Carlton Park Surf Life Saving Club Lifesaving Manager Alison McIntyre.

On Sunday, the team visited Clifton Beach alongside City of Clarence Mayor Brendan Blomeley, SLST CEO Tony van den Enden and Clifton Beach Surf Life Saving Club President Matthew Clingeleffer.

Each station includes a rescue tube, clear instructions and a unique location code to help emergency services pinpoint an incident. The equipment is designed to support safer bystander responses, particularly when lifesavers aren’t on patrol.
