Murgon State Primary School prides itself on having a safe, civil, healthy and intellectually stimulating learning environment. Murgon State Primary School students feel respected and connected with the staff and are engaged in Inquiry Based Learning. Instruction is personalized and designated learning environments increase student contact with teachers. Effective strong teamwork among all staff, across all grades and subject areas provides high levels of collaboration and communication. We are incredibly proud to share that Murgon State School is one of just nine Queensland state schools recognised for excellence in education at the 2026 Showcase Awards.

Our school received the Telstra Excellence in Primary Education (Years 3 to 6) award for dramatically improving student reading outcomes through consistent, evidence-informed teaching practices.

This achievement reflects the collective commitment of our students, staff and school community. We look forward to celebrating with you all in the coming weeks.

Nine state schools from across Queensland have been recognised by the Crisafulli Government for their outstanding achievements at the 2026 Showcase event at Parliament House in Brisbane today.

On Friday, Murgon State School joined communities across Australia to mark Day for Daniel and promote child safety education and awareness.

Students wore red, made gold coin donations to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and participated in a whole-school walk around the oval. Acting Detective Sergeant Ben van der Lugt from the Queensland Police Service spoke with students about practical ways to help keep themselves and others safe.

Thank you to Bruce and Denise Morcombe for supporting our participation, and to Mrs V and Mrs T from our School Events Team for coordinating the event.

Today, Murgon State School marked Day for Daniel and World Teachers’ Day.

Our students wore red and contributed a gold coin donation to support the Daniel Morcombe Foundation’s child safety education, recognising the importance of working together to help keep children safe.

Our teachers enjoyed a morning tea in recognition of the care, expertise and commitment they bring to their work, and the difference they make in students’ lives.

We look forward to sharing photos from both events when we return to school on Monday.

Today, Miss Carter and Mrs S from our Prep teaching team visited C&K Murgon Community Kindergarten to connect with children and educators. They shared We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen.

These visits help children build familiarity and relationships with our school as they prepare for Prep.

We look forward to welcoming our Starting Strong children and families to the Happy, Healthy Me! Expo tomorrow, Wednesday 28 October, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Murgon State School.
