Week 14 – Meeting Our Guests

Question: Carissa, What do you enjoy most about meeting guests?

Answer: "I really enjoy meeting people from all different backgrounds and hearing their stories and perspectives. Everyone brings something different to a tour, whether it's their own connection to the area, their interest in history, or simply their curiosity about a site.

I love being able to share something I'm passionate about while also learning a little from the people I meet along the way. No two groups are ever the same and that is one of the things I enjoy most about the job."

That's one of the things we love most about our tours too. 🤍

Every guest brings their own story, curiosity and perspective.

We agree Sitchu Tasmania

Just 35 minutes west of Hobart, New Norfolk has become one of Tasmania’s most interesting small-town escapes.

With our Tours included we invite you to come and explore New Norfolk.

Antique stores that can swallow an afternoon. One of Tasmania’s most exciting lunches. River walks, cellar doors, small-batch b**r, award-winning rum and a Saturday market taking over the main street. All of it sits just 35 minutes from Hobart. If your Tasmania itinerary currently skips this place, we’d reconsider. Tap for details 👉 https://ebx.sh/Pem31W

Carissa stumbled across this pretty little red mushroom while at Willow Court the other night! 🌿✨

Even in a place steeped in history, there are still little surprises waiting to be discovered.

🏛️ Meet the Storytellers Series 🏛️

Week 12 – Special Place to Guide.

Question: Which area is your special place to guide?

Answer: "I really enjoy exploring the Barracks area. I appreciate the architecture and the sense of history you get from being in that space. It was once a busy, high foot traffic area, with staff, patients and visitors moving through it as part of everyday life at Willow Court. There's something about being able to walk through a place and imagine the people and stories that once filled it that I find fascinating."

The Barracks is filled with history. Every doorway, hallway and room can give us another glimpse into what everyday life at Willow Court was once like.

🧡 Mental Health Week 2026 at Willow Court 🧡

This year’s theme is “Appreciate the Little Things” — and what better place to reflect than the historic grounds of Willow Court.

As one of Australia’s oldest mental institutions, Willow Court holds a deep connection to mental health history. During Mental Health Week, we’re opening our gates for guided outdoor tours of the Barracks Precinct, sharing stories of resilience, change, and community.

🧡 All profits from our Willow Court Tours during Mental Health Week (3 - 11 October 2026) will be proudly donated to Beyond Blue, making this the perfect time to join us, support mental health, and walk through history with purpose.

Take a moment, appreciate the little things, and help us make a difference.
