What makes play so interesting for little ones is the act of doing.

Playing in the sandpit involves feeling different textures or mixing water to make sand stick together, but it doesn’t have to end with a perfect sandcastle.

We call this ‘process over product’. It fosters problem solving skills and sparks curiosity! What will happen next? What if we try this?

A day of play might not end in a masterpiece to hang on the fridge, but the opportunity to explore the world, test ideas and spend time with you is what matters to your child most.

The Blitz Secret – Stephen Ronson
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's a good relaxing read that completely hooks you. The storyline is full of twists and turns that keeps you guessing at every corner. I loved the era and how well the historical setting was brought to life. A perfect book to unwind with. 4 Stars.

On this day, October 15, 1921, an official opening was held for the Angaston and District Hospital.

The doors were opened to hundreds of supporters; many of whom donated money to help make the hospital a reality.

There were official speeches, a fete, and a highly anticipated 'Ugly Returned Soldier' competition - won by a Mr Harry Davies with 14,662 votes.

The Angaston Hospital began operations on 1 October 1920. Kevin, son of Dorothy and Cliff Wishart of Eden Valley, arrived that same morning to become the first baby born there.

Within a year, 38 babies had been born, 140 patients treated, 48 operations completed and the number of beds increased from eight to 16.

The official opening also celebrated improvements to the site, including an isolation block, new large ward, septic drainage and a mortuary building.

The hospital has undergone several upgrades over the years to make the original stone building almost unrecognisable, including the addition of an operation theatre block, boiler house, nurses' quarters, and new maternity wing in the 1960s.
