MEET LAST YEAR'S CITIZEN OF THE YEAR: IAN WALLACE

What does it mean to make a real difference in your community?

Just ask Ian Wallace.

Recognised earlier this year as the 2026 Moyne Citizen of the Year, Ian has dedicated more than four decades to making the Panmure community and beyond a better place to live.

From preserving local history and honouring our veterans to helping develop community spaces and supporting recreational facilities, Ian’s contributions have helped create a stronger, more connected community.

Ian is a wonderful example of the people who give their time, skills and energy to make our communities better.

Do you know someone like Ian?

Nominations are now open for the 2027 Moyne Citizen of the Year Award. Help us recognise someone who goes above and beyond and makes a lasting difference in our community.

Nominate online at www.moyne.vic.gov.au/Moyne-Community-Awards

Nominations close at midnight on Sunday 29 November 2026.

The next Citizen of the Year could be someone you know.

PLEASE TAKE CARE AROUND OUR ROADWORKS
Our crews are out working on Woolsthorpe–Hexham Road, Occupation Lane, and other sites across the shire, helping maintain and improve our local roads.

If you’re travelling through a roadworks area, we’d appreciate you taking extra care around the work site and looking out for the people working hard to get the job done.

Please take your time, follow the temporary speed limits and signage, listen to traffic controllers and keep an eye out for workers and machinery.

Our staff are members of our community too and their safety is our number one priority. Let’s all do our bit to help them get home safe at the end of the day.

Thank you for your patience while our crews carry out this important work.

Flags will fly at half-mast in front of our Mortlake and Port Fairy offices today in memory of Dr Tim Read.

Tim will be remembered as one of Victoria's most respected parliamentarians, serving the people of Brunswick and the state for over eight years.

Before entering Parliament, Tim began his career as a general practitioner in community health before specialising in sexual health in the public system.

In 2018, Tim was elected as the first Greens member for Brunswick, championing action on climate change, improved sustainable transport, and campaigned for democratic safeguards, integrity reforms and stronger protections for renters.

Tim will be remembered as a proud and passionate Green and a principled changemaker who led with sincerity, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of Victorians.
