Here comes a rant. We have a weird problem at our street library - it keeps getting over-filled! We have just removed a load of books (30-40, as seen on top of the bin in this pic) as it was jam packed full, which causes so many issues - the door (to the adults section) and lid (to the kids section) don’t close properly and therefore the contents are no longer protected from the weather, the lid to the kids section has actually been split when it’s been forced closed (because it’s too full to shut properly) and the kids section was packed full of adult books. We have instructions written on the lid of the kids section and in signs within both sections of the library yet they are continually ignored… just wondering if anyone has a solution or ideas to help us as we can’t keep removing all these books - we have more not in the library than in it at the moment! Please help us look after our library and our books - the pics on the right in this collage is how it should look.

We’ve just had another clean out, trying to keep the library (especially the “kids wing”) nice and clean and easy to use. The picture books are sorted by height and kept in a single layer to allow ease of access. The youth novels are kept in tubs (one is removable) to also allow ease of access. As you can see, we are full at the moment so still not in a position to accept bulk donations.

Please take care to ensure the library door is shut. Unfortunately it was left open recently and it rained before we noticed - some books have fallen out and are soaked, those left inside that have been water damaged have also had to be thrown out. Please help us keep our books safe and dry!
