A big congratulations to our top three fundraisers: Benji, Rosa and Brax! 🏆👏 What an amazing effort!

We would also like to thank all the wonderful volunteers and teachers who jumped in, got involved and even got SLIMED! 🫟 Your enthusiasm and support helped make the day such a memorable experience for our students.

What an amazing way to finish our Stage 3 camp. Our students enjoyed their final activities today, testing their accuracy during archery and reaching new heights on the high ropes course!

It’s been a wonderful three days filled with exciting experiences, personal achievements and plenty of fun!

We are extremely proud of our students for their enthusiasm, positive attitudes and the way they have represented Menai Public School throughout camp.

We have now departed camp and are on our way home! We are expected to arrive back at school in time for normal afternoon pick-up.

🌟 1/2 Flamingos are flying into Term 4! 🌟

Our Flamingos have hit the ground running, diving headfirst into exciting learning adventures! 🚀📚

📏 Maths Magic!
This week, we’ve been exploring area, discovering how to choose the right units to measure different shapes and surfaces. Our little mathematicians have been busy putting their skills to the test! 🔢✨

🌿 Learning from Country!
In Aboriginal Education, we explored the amazing stringybark tree and its many traditional uses, including making rope and string, starting fires and building shelters. We then got creative, using wool to replicate stringybark fibres and making our very own bracelets! 🧶💚

What a fantastic start to our final term together!

🎨🌸 Japanese-Inspired Art in Kindergarten Kookaburras! 🇯🇵

Our Kindergarten Kookaburras have been enjoying some wonderful creative experiences with Mrs Ullrich, who has been joining us once a week for art lessons!

The students have been busy creating beautiful Japanese-inspired artwork, building on their learning from their Japanese lessons with Sensei Harrison from Menai High School.

During these lessons, Mrs Ullrich has been teaching the students about the 3 P’s of Art – Patience, Persistence and Practice. Our Kookaburras are learning that creating artwork takes time, effort and a willingness to keep trying. They have also been exploring the concept of composition, thinking carefully about how they arrange different elements in their artwork to create a balanced and visually appealing piece.

What a wonderful opportunity to combine creativity, cultural learning and important lifelong skills! We are so proud of the care and effort our little artists are putting into their masterpieces! 🎨🌸

🌿Woronora River Community of Schools – Walk on Country

On Wednesday 21 October, our First Nation students enjoyed a Walk on Country in Illawong with local Aboriginal knowledge holder Grahame Avery.

Walking from Tharawal Public School to Old Ferry Reserve, students deepened their understanding of Country, culture and local Aboriginal history. Grahame shared his knowledge of significant local sites, bush tucker and native plants.

Students explored the rich history of the Gweagal people and learnt about the area's colonial past, including how Old Ferry Road was originally known as Illawarra Road. They also discovered that shells from the midden can still be seen along the original road today.

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with Country, learn from local Aboriginal knowledge and strengthen our understanding of the rich cultural heritage of the Woronora River area.

Thank you to Grahame Avery for sharing his knowledge and to Tharawal Public School for joining us in this valuable community learning experience. 💚💛
