🌊 Making a difference, one beach at a time!

The team at Albany’s Historic Whaling Station recently rolled up their sleeves to participate in the WA Beach Clean-Up (16 - 19 October), collecting rubbish from the two beaches near the Whaling Station.

Our clean-up supports the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI), coordinated by Tangaroa Blue. 💙

We collected over 55 pieces of rubbish including more than 30 pieces of plastic, multiple cigarette butts, a pair of goggles, and one lonely shoe.

But it is about more than just picking up rubbish. Recording the types and quantities of marine debris found helps identify pollution hotspots, understand where rubbish may be coming from, and support long-term solutions to prevent waste from reaching our oceans.

We are proud to do our part to care for the beautiful coastal environment that surrounds us and help protect our oceans for future generations. 🐋🌏

A big thank you to our team for getting involved and helping make a difference!

We were proud to join landmarks across WA in making carers visible and celebrating the care, time and support they give to others every day.

To all carers in our community, thank you. 💙

🏆 WE’RE FINALISTS! 🎉

We are incredibly proud to once again be named a Finalist in the Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards!

It is another exciting moment in an amazing few years for our team. In 2025, we brought home GOLD in both Tourist Attraction and Cultural Tourism, before going on to receive national SILVER for Cultural Tourism and BRONZE for Tourist Attractions earlier this year.

To be recognised among WA’s tourism finalists again in 2026 is a huge honour, and one that belongs to our entire team. 💛

Across Albany’s Historic Whaling Station, an incredible group of people works every day to welcome our visitors, care for this nationally significant heritage site and share its stories.

We are also so proud to see Albany and the Great Southern strongly represented, alongside fellow finalists Albany Tours Western Australia, BIG4 Middleton Beach Holiday Park, Quality Apartments Banksia Albany, and Heyscape. 👏

And to our local community, thank you for continuing to visit, support and cheer us on.

Now we keep our fingers crossed for 26 November! 🤞🏆
