🏘 A major step forward for Wagga's future growth.

Committee 4 Wagga welcomes the rezoning approval of the proposed $2.5 billion Rowan Village development, a significant milestone for housing and community development in Wagga Wagga's Southern Growth Area. Rowan Village is set to become one of the largest masterplanned communities ever proposed in regional New South Wales.

The project, led by Committee 4 Wagga member DevCore Property Group, is proposed to deliver approximately 2,200 new homes by 2037 across a 220-hectare site between Holbrook, Lloyd and Rowan Roads. Subject to development approvals, the first release of housing lots and homes is expected in early 2027.

The rezoning approval follows four years of collaboration between DevCore Property Group, City of Wagga Wagga Council and the NSW Government, helping shape and refine the Rowan Village masterplan.

As Wagga continues to grow, attracting workers, families, students and businesses, projects that increase housing supply and support liveable communities play an important role in the region's future prosperity. Rowan Village is expected to deliver a diverse mix of housing options, green space, sporting facilities, a proposed primary school and a future village centre, while helping respond to growing housing demand across our city.

With rental vacancy rates sitting below 1 per cent and Wagga Wagga City Council's Local Housing Strategy identifying the need for 5,000 additional dwellings by 2041, increasing housing supply will be critical to supporting the city's future growth and economic success.

Committee 4 Wagga CEO Scott Sanbrook and Co-Chair Richard Pottie were pleased to join stakeholders, media, and Dr Joe McGirr MP to mark this important announcement and acknowledge the collaboration between industry, government and community partners that has helped bring the project to this stage 🤝

📢 An important milestone for Wagga!

Today's announcement of a feasibility study into duplication of the Gobba Bridge is a welcome step forward in the ongoing conversation about our city's future transport and connectivity needs.

This progress reflects the efforts of many across our community, including Dr Joe McGirr MP, the Wagga Wagga Business Chamber, community organisations, local businesses, and the thousands of residents who have spoken up in support of improved river crossing infrastructure. Committee 4 Wagga is proud to have played a role in supporting and encouraging these conversations.

This announcement provides an important foundation for future planning and is a positive step towards delivering the infrastructure our growing city will need in the years ahead.

Today was an important one for the future of Wagga – in a breakthrough, the government has agreed to conduct a feasibility study into the duplication of the Gobba Bridge.

The announcement was made by the Minister for Roads and Regional Transport, Jenny Aitchison, in response to a question from me in parliament.

This is a significant step towards delivering the new river crossing we need, and I thank the minister for listening to the voices of 10,000-plus local people who signed our “Bridge to the Future” petition.

The feasibility study will be a foundation stone upon which to build the new bridge and while there’s still a long way to go, I’m looking forward to continuing the pressure to advance to the next stages.

Thank you to everyone who has added their voice to this important campaign.
