For those that have been inquiring about increased police presence during the planned Hydro outage scheduled for tonight.
After discussions with the local detachment, please read the below statement from the OPP ⬇️⬇️⬇️

The interruption affecting Ashton, Beckwith, Carleton Place, Mississippi Mills, Montague, Perth, Ramsay, and Smiths Falls — runs from 11 p.m. Oct. 29 to 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, to allow for the relocation of a hydro line.

Our Detachment will be conducting focused patrols, during that time and have brought in additional resources. Our 911 and non emergency numbers remain operational and we encourage members of the public to contact OPP if required. We will be focusing on visibility around business and municipal building tonight.

Good morning Carleton Place.

In the end the community decided (fairly assertively) that they were happy with the direction our council was taking them. This is a good group of people, who care about our town and we will continue to debate, challenge each other and staff and work together for the long term betterment of our citizens.

The overall turnout was lower than hoped, and frankly that was the case just about everywhere in Ontario, with some exceptions. We will continue to engage and encourage engagement at every turn. Reach out anytime you have an idea or concern.

Have a great day!
