Jenn Dahinten For Oro Medonte Deputy Mayor Elect of Oro-Medonte.

Long-time resident, family person (fur babies included), business owner and experienced leader focused on how we LIVE 🍁 WORK 🍁 PLAY in our beautiful municipality and our care deeply about what happens next, for us all.

Good Morning and THANK YOU, ORO-MEDONTE!

I am honoured, grateful and excited to have been elected your next Deputy Mayor.

First, thank you to everyone who voted. And to everyone who supported me, volunteered, knocked on doors, put up signs, shared ideas and encouraged me along the way, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’ve learned so much from the conversations we’ve had across this Township.

Thank you also to my fellow candidates, Peter Lavoie and Donald Smith, for committing and helping bring residents’ concerns into the conversation.

Peter, thank you for your four years of service to Oro-Medonte. I hope we can work together during the transition to understand what’s underway and keep important projects moving forward.

I want everyone to know that I will be your Deputy Mayor, whether you voted for me or not. Every resident. Every community. Every ward.

Congratulations to Mayor Randy Greenlaw and Councillors Lenore Ackford, John Bard, Lori Hutcheson, Jane Voorheis and Diana Wells. I’m really looking forward to working with all of you and adding my voice to yours around the Council table.

Seven voices. One shared responsibility to Oro-Medonte.

I know we won’t always agree, nor should we! But I’m confident we can ask questions, challenge assumptions, consider different perspectives and make decisions openly, around the Council table, so residents can see how and why those decisions are made.

I spoke a lot during the campaign about the divisions within our Township. I hope that, together, we can help bring our communities closer. We have far more in common than sometimes appears, and so much worth working for.

When I first put my name forward in August, I made you some promises. They haven’t changed.

I will listen.

I will ask questions.

I will do my homework.

I will tell you where I stand and why.

I won’t always get everything right, and I won’t always agree with everyone. But when Council can do something about a problem, I won’t be satisfied with simply saying we’ve heard you. I’ll work for action.

Oro-Medonte is where we raise our families, farm, work, build businesses, volunteer, retire and play. It’s our home, and its future belongs to all of us.

WHERE WE LIVE 🍁 WORK 🍁 PLAY IS WORTH WORKING FOR.

Thank you for putting your confidence in me. I’m looking forward to what we can accomplish together.

Jenn Dahinten
Deputy Mayor-Elect, Township of Oro-Medonte

Thank you, Oro-Medonte.

To everyone who took the time to vote in this election, thank you for participating in our local democracy.

And to everyone who supported me, volunteered, put up a sign, canvassed and encouraged me along the way, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I’m grateful for every conversation, every question and every door that opened to me across this Township.

The Township will publish the official certified results, and I’ll have more to say then.

For tonight, simply, thank you.

Jenn

❗️YOUR VOICE. INDEPENDENT REPRESENTATION. Use it to Vote Today ❗️

You asked for more common sense, less division and a Council willing to listen.

Here’s what you can expect from me.

* Listen to residents across every ward, including those who disagree with me.
* Listen to staff, ask questions about recommendations and understand the alternatives.
* Seek expert advice and examine the evidence.
* Consider the perspectives of my fellow Council members.
* Weigh the information, ask difficult questions and explain my vote.

I’ll work constructively with whoever Oro-Medonte residents elect.

Listening is where good decisions start. It’s not where they end.

YOUR COMMUNITY. YOUR SAY.

You asked why decisions sometimes seem to happen before residents even know they’re being discussed.

Here’s what I’d do differently.

* Make Council discussions, alternatives, decisions and voting records easier to follow through a public dashboard.
* Ask who was consulted and who might have been missed.
* Question changes to recreation and community plans before money is committed.
* Make it easier to track decisions from the original proposal through to implementation.
* Support public participation while there’s still time to influence the outcome.

You shouldn’t have to organize a petition just to have your community’s needs considered.

🍁 YOUR FUTURE. DON’T OVERLOOK THE DETAILS.

Across Oro-Medonte, you asked for better planning before problems become worse.

* When new homes and schools are planned, where are the traffic and road safety plans? Make these accessible.
* Make it easy to see what was considered, what improvements are planned, who’s responsible and when they’ll happen.
* Look at drainage, groundwater and impacts on neighbouring communities, not just individual developments.
* Question whether road repairs, maintenance and snow clearing are keeping pace with changing needs.

Our Traffic Safety Advisory Committee has made progress. Let’s build on that work.

Common sense means anticipating problems, showing residents the plans and following through.

🍁 YOUR HOME. YOUR PEACE OF MIND.

You asked for better protection of our neighbourhoods.

Whether your inconsiderate neighbour operates a short-term rental or is simply an inconsiderate neighbour, you deserve the same protection.

* Enforce noise, nuisance, parking and property standards bylaws now.
* Respond when complaints happen, not days later.
* Use AMPS, documented violations and meaningful penalties.
* Protect residential neighbourhoods from dedicated commercial accommodation operations.
* Question whether more costly litigation is bringing us closer to a workable solution.

Your right to enjoy your home shouldn’t depend on who’s causing the problem.

🍁 YOUR TOWNSHIP. A PLACE TO GET THINGS DONE.

You asked why getting things done in Oro-Medonte can be so difficult.

Here’s what I’d work toward.

* Planning rules that keep pace with changing housing, farming and business needs.
* Clear requirements, timelines and consistent decisions on permits and approvals.
* Public reporting on delays, service performance and staff retention.
* Identifying and removing unnecessary obstacles that discourage investment, jobs and new tax revenue.

When residents and businesses can’t get clear answers or timely decisions, opportunities go elsewhere.
