Happy Halloween!

Whether you're trick-or-treating, dressing up, or enjoying spooky fun at home, remember to stay safe!

Keep costumes bright or reflective, use face paint instead of masks for clear vision, and always check treats before eating.

One crossing, connecting two cities.

The Highway 404 Road Crossing at Orlando Avenue opened in September 2026! Located between 16th Avenue and Major Mackenzie Drive, this new connection supports regional growth while prioritizing active transportation.

Key features include:

- Road widening on Orlando Ave and Markland St, plus 3 new traffic signals
- Rouge River ecosystem protections and thousands of native trees and shrubs

Built in partnership between York Region, the City of Markham, and the City of Richmond Hill.

Notice of Environmental Assessment Addendum Completion - Highway 404 Ramp Extension at Major Mackenzie Drive

As Markham continues to grow, we recommenced the Highway 404 ramp extension at Major Mackenzie Drive to support our evolving transportation network.

Originally approved in 2009, the City has completed an Addendum to the Environmental Study Report to reflect current environmental conditions and updated community needs. This project will improve connectivity from Major Mackenzie Drive through to Markland Street.
