🐾 HELP US HELP OUR FURRY FRIENDS! 🐾

Hello, community! ❤️ We are in need of some smaller cat carriers here at the shelter!
It turns out our amazing friends at Straight Outta Rescue Society .society are also in need of smaller cat carriers, as well as cat toys. Since Straight Out of Rescue doesn't have a shelter of their own, we've offered to be a donation drop-off hub for this shout out.
So, we're asking our wonderful community: Can you help us out?

Take a look at the photo of our handsome, adoptable boy, Popeye! 😻 You'll also find his Petfinder bio below because this sweet boy is looking for his forever home!

The carrier Popeye is sitting in is actually a style we LOVE using at the shelter. We call it a top-loading carrier. This style allows us to use the best fear-free techniques when safely getting a cat or other animal into a carrier.
If we could dream up the perfect carrier donation, this would be it! A smaller-sized, top-loading carrier is exactly what we're hoping for.
Whether you can donate a carrier, some cat toys for Straight Out of Rescue, or simply share this post, we are so incredibly grateful!

Thank you for always supporting us, our rescue friends, and most importantly, the animals who need us. We appreciate you all so much! 🐾💕

Meet Regina!

Cats: Yes, please!
Dogs: Well-matched
Kids: Unknown

This little tabby is FULL of personality, with plenty of p**s and vinegar to keep you on your toes. Found as a stray living in an alley alongside her friend Cady, Regina hasn't let her rough start dampen her enthusiasm for life. It's immediately clear that she's no stranger to people — she's an absolute purr machine who is quick to show her affection and always happy to soak up some attention.

Regina is a rambunctious, playful girl who loves to run, romp, and get into a little mischief. She's got energy to spare, but she's happy to trade playtime for pets and cuddle time with her people when she's burned enough of her s***k.

Regina has shown interest in a small dog she's met through a windowed door, so she may be able to live with a cat-friendly dog given proper introductions. She's open to being adopted without Cady, but she'll need a home with an active, playful resident cat who can keep up with her and provide a fun feline friend.

If you're looking for an affectionate, energetic little character with a whole lot of personality, Regina might just be your girl!

Regina's adoption fee is $250 + tax and includes:
Spay
Microchip
Vaccinations
Deworming
Flea treatment
Negative SNAP test

If adopted with Cady, their adoption fee is $375 + tax.

Interested in Regina? The first step is to complete an adoption application below.

Meet Cady!

Cats: Yes, please!
Dogs: Well-matched
Kids: Probably

This beautiful dilute calico has a sweet personality and a playful side that's sure to win you over. Found as a stray living in an alley alongside her friend Regina, Cady has clearly had positive experiences with people. She starts purring almost as soon as she spots someone and is always happy to receive some love and attention.

While a little more reserved than her outgoing friend Regina, Cady is still a playful, rambunctious kitten who enjoys having fun and exploring her surroundings. She's got a lovely balance of kitten energy and affection, happily making time for both play sessions and cuddles with her favourite people.

Cady has shown interest in a small dog she's met through a windowed door, so she may be able to live with a cat-friendly dog given proper introductions. She's open to being adopted separately from Regina, but she'll need a home with an active, playful resident cat who can keep her company and give her a feline friend to play with.

If you're looking for an affectionate, playful companion with a slightly softer approach to life, Cady could be the perfect addition to your family! After such a rough start, these little girls deserve a future filled with safety, love, and endless happy purrs.

Cady's adoption fee is $250 + tax and includes:
Spay
Microchip
Vaccinations
Deworming
Flea treatment
Negative SNAP test

If adopted with Regina, their adoption fee is $375 + tax.

This Caturday's Happy Tails update brought to us by Pooka! A black cat on Halloween? You betcha!

Back in October of 2019, a big Tomcat was surrendered to us after his owner lost his home. Pooka really struggled in the shelter with both cats and humans so we were thrilled when someone showed interest in adopting him.

His owner shares that the two are as happy as can be and completely bonded. Pooka is fit and healthy, and he has settled in so wonderfully that he was able to stop taking his anxiety medication shortly after leaving the shelter. With no other pets to worry about, he can truly relax and enjoy life as the cherished centre of his owner’s world. His owner describes him as an affectionate, unique, and incredibly sweet kitty, and says they feel so happy and grateful to have found each other.

Pooka’s story is a wonderful reminder of the magic of adoption. From finding comfort and security to becoming someone’s whole world, he has truly blossomed into a happy, loved, and confident cat. We couldn’t be more thrilled that this special boy found his forever person and was able to relax into retired life!

Meet Florence & Eleanor!

Cats: Well-matched
Dogs: Probably not
Kids: Older

Florence and Eleanor are two sweet little sisters found abandoned in a parking lot very scared and unsure of what was happening. After spending a couple of weeks with us, the girls have made wonderful progress and are blossoming more and more every day.

Florence is the more outgoing of the two, while Eleanor is a little more cautious and is still learning to trust. They’re both doing so much better, and one thing is for sure: the moment you walk into their room, the purring starts!

Playful, sweet, and full of kitten charm, Florence and Eleanor love sharing their days together. They’re a bonded pair who bring out the best in each other, and we’re hoping to find them a loving home where they can continue to grow in confidence, play to their hearts’ content, and be cherished for the rest of their lives.

After such a rough start, these little girls deserve a future filled with safety, love, and endless happy purrs. Could you be the one to give Florence and Eleanor their happily ever after?

Reintroducing Constable Carrots and meet Hazel!

Our little officer was found outside our local police station and we knew there was only one name that would do... Constable Carrots! Constable Carrots may not be issuing tickets or solving crimes, but he is definitely an expert at stealing hearts! This sweet bunny is curious, charming, and ready to find a home where he can be spoiled with fresh greens, cozy spaces, and plenty of love.

Hazel was also found as a stray and proved to be quite the elusive little lady when trying to trap her. She thought the garden boxes she was hopping between were just fine for her, but little did she know she was headed for a warm bed, endless veggies, and a new boyfriend. Fortunately our friends at Vancouver Rabbit Rescue proved once again that they are trapping machines and were able to snag little Hazel.

Constable Carrots is the more confident of the two, but he didn't start his days with us that way. He's gone from terrified and hiding to popping out to say hello to passers by. Hazel is still learning that people aren't scary, but we know with the Constable's help, she'll open up in no time.

Constable Carrots & Hazel's adoption fee is $75 plus tax.

If you think Constable Carrots and Hazel could be the perfect addition to your family, the next step is to complete an adoption application using the link below.

UPDATE: Adoption Pending!!

Meet Mango! Your next adventure buddy!

Kids: Older teens, maybe
Dogs: Well-matched
Cats: No, thank you

At just 1.5 years old, Mango is a beautiful German Shepherd/Collie mix with a big heart, lots of energy, and so much potential. Sadly, Mango was abandoned by her owner during an eviction, but she’s ready to leave that chapter behind and find a family who will give her the love, stability, and guidance she deserves.

Mango is a loving, enthusiastic girl who’s always ready to go, go, go! She’s food motivated, which will be a huge bonus when it comes to learning new skills and building good habits. She’s still a work in progress and will need a family committed to her training using positive reinforcement methods only. With patience, consistency, and plenty of rewards, Mango has all the potential to blossom into an amazing companion!

A few things to know about Mango:
Training is a must - she’ll thrive with positive reinforcement, structure, and an outlet for all that energy.
Big girl bark - While she isn't a constant barker, a detached home may be preferred for the times she does exert her voice.
Loving, energetic, and VERY food motivated!

Mango still needs to be spayed, but she’s available for a foster-to-adopt placement while she waits for her procedure.
She is:
Microchipped
Vaccinated
Dewormed
Flea-treated

Mango is looking for an active, committed home that’s excited to help her learn, grow, and become the best version of herself. If you’re ready for a fun-loving sidekick who will keep you moving and reward your efforts with lots of love, Mango might just be your girl!

Mango's adoption fee is $350, plus tax.

If you think Mango could be the perfect addition to your family, the next step is to complete an adoption application using the link below.

If you have any questions about Mango or our adoption process, please don't hesitate to contact us at [email protected] or 604-519-2008.
