🌬️ WEATHER ALERT – STRONG WINDS EXPECTED SATURDAY 🌬️

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for exposed coastal areas of Northern Vancouver Island.

💨 What: Strong southeast winds of 90 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 110 km/h.

📅 When: Saturday, October 24, beginning in the morning and easing by the evening.

📍 Where: Exposed coastal areas of Northern Vancouver Island.

⚠️ Please take precautions and stay safe!

Strong winds can cause flying debris, falling branches, and damage to unsecured items. Residents are encouraged to:

Secure outdoor furniture, decorations, and other loose objects.

Be cautious around trees and power lines.

Use extra care when travelling, particularly along exposed coastal areas.

Winds are expected to ease Saturday evening and become calm overnight.

Higher-than-normal sea levels are expected along parts of B.C.'s coast later this month due to a Kelvin wave, a large movement of ocean water associated with this year’s El Niño conditions. While significant impacts aren't currently expected, elevated sea levels can increase the effects of high tides, storm surges, and coastal flooding.

If you live, work, or spend time near the coast, now is a good time to review your emergency plan, prepare a grab-and-go bag, and familiarize yourself with local evacuation routes and nearby high ground areas. Stay informed by monitoring local forecasts, tide conditions, and official updates.
