Rosco is ready for Halloween! 🎃🐾

Our future Operational Stress Intervention Dog (OSID) is enjoying a visit to the pumpkin patch, and he has a few Halloween safety reminders to share!

Stay visible: If you’re out trick-or-treating, wear bright or reflective clothing and carry a flashlight.

Cross safely: Use crosswalks, look both ways and stay alert for vehicles.

Check your treats: Have an adult inspect Halloween candy before eating.

Keep pets safe: Keep candy, especially chocolate and anything containing xylitol, out of reach of pets. Give furry friends space from costumes and Halloween excitement if they need it.

Drive with care: Slow down in residential neighbourhoods and watch for excited little trick-or-treaters.

From Rosco and everyone at DSSAB and Sault Ste. Marie Paramedics, have a fun, safe and happy Halloween! 💙

🚑 Our Paramedic Services team recently had the opportunity to take part in the Para-Mentors Job Fair!

It was a great opportunity to connect with attendees, share information about careers in paramedicine and highlight the important work our team does in Sault Ste. Marie and the surrounding area.

From emergency medical response to community paramedicine, there are many ways to make a difference in this field. We’re always happy to connect with those interested in learning more about a career with Sault Ste. Marie Paramedic Services.

Thanks Para-Mentors for the opportunity to be part of this event! 💙

Josh and Steve visited Sault College yesterday to give Paramedic students a hands on demonstration of the equipment we use everyday on the road. We are proud to support the next generation of EMS any way we can and wish these students luck in their studies.

As may of us celebrate Canada Day and head into the long weekend, we know summer travel season is officially here. Whether you’re enjoying local events, time with family, or time on the road, we encourage everyone to drive, boat, and explore - safely.

And a reminder: please use 911 only in emergencies, so emergency care remains available for those who need it most. 🚨

Wishing our community a safe and joyful holiday!

Same 911. Same Ambulance Communication Officers. Same Paramedics. Same Commitment. 💛🚑

During Paramedic Services Week, we’re recognizing the people behind every emergency call, and sharing a quick reminder about what to expect when you dial 911.

It’s been over a month since the Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS) was introduced in Sault Ste. Marie. Here’s what that means for you:

✔️ 911 is still the number to call
✔️ Life-threatening emergencies still receive immediate response
✔️ Ambulance coverage remains the same

You may notice you’re asked more detailed questions when calling. That’s a key part of the system—helping ensure the right care is sent, as quickly as possible.

By working together, callers, Ambulance Communications Officers, and Paramedics, we’re strengthening how emergency care is delivered in our community. 💛

This Paramedic Services Week, we’re recognizing the incredible dedication of paramedics who are there when it matters most.

Did you know you can support paramedics by knowing when to call 911?

✔️ Call 911 for life-threatening or urgent medical emergencies
✔️ Stay on the line and answer questions clearly. This helps get the right care to you faster
✔️ Be ready to provide your location and details about the situation

Every call matters. Knowing when to call helps ensure paramedics are available for those who need them most.

Thank you to our paramedics for your skill, compassion, and commitment to our community—today and every day. 💛

Last year, a powerful story was shared across our community when two of our Community Paramedics helped a local resident experience something special with his family, one last time.

CPs Mitch and Jay supported Gary Duke so he could attend a Soo Greyhounds game with his family, shortly before he passed away. 🏒💓

Stories like this remind us that paramedic care is about more than responding to emergencies. It’s about supporting people and families through some of life’s most difficult moments.

That’s what Improving Outcomes, Together can look like: Compassion, teamwork, and care that helps create meaningful moments when they matter most.
