The Virtual Mentorship Series is inclusive of men and masculine-identifying 2SLGBTQQIA+ community, and is meant to empower by creating opportunities for knowledge-sharing rooted in Métis kinship, culture, values, and best practices. The series runs monthly until December 2026.

A STEPS Success Story featuring MNBC Citizen and STEPS student, Ila Campbell.

“As a Métis student, I sought support from Métis Nation British Columbia to help me pursue my academic and personal goals during my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Balancing academics, volunteer work, leadership roles, and career development opportunities often came with financial challenges.

MNBC’s support allowed me to focus on my studies while also exploring student clubs and extracurricular opportunities outside my degree. This exposure led me down a career path I never expected, sparking new passions in event coordination and community engagement within motorsport. It also helped me build confidence in stepping beyond my academic field and discover where my strengths and interests aligned.

Alongside my studies, I volunteered with various student organizations, developing skills in leadership, communication, and teamwork. I also completed a semester abroad in Scotland, which strengthened my independence and global perspective.

As a result of these experiences and support, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with Distinction. I am now preparing to move to the United Kingdom to begin building a career in motorsport. MNBC’s support was instrumental in helping me access opportunities that shaped this direction.

I am deeply grateful for the support, which helped remove barriers, expand my experiences, and shape both my academic and professional journey.”

On October 22, 2026, Métis Nation British Columbia, in partnership with Mountain Sage Holistic Childcare Society, hosted the grand opening of Zhenn Sayd Child Care Centre in Port Alberni.

The new child care centre features 34 spaces for children in the community. It reflects a shared commitment to supporting children in culturally safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environments while strengthening community connections through partnership and collaboration.

In 2023, MNBC partnered with Alberni Clayoquot Metis Society, Tseshaht First Nation, and School District 70 to address the growing need for quality child care in the region. Through the Province’s Distinction-Based Space Creation Funding, MNBC secured development funding. The investment reflected a shared commitment to expanding access to culturally inclusive, high-quality early learning opportunities while supporting local families and workforce participation.

MNBC invites proposals from qualified and experienced Property Management service providers to manage Crosstown Apartments and the Annex in Fort St. John, B.C.

The successful Proponent will manage the day-to-day operation of both sites in a professional, tenant-focused, and culturally responsive manner consistent with MNBC’s values, policies and objectives. The role is to maintain the physical condition of the Properties, deliver operational excellence, promote positive tenant experiences, and safeguard the asset's long-term value and sustainability.

MNBC is seeking a company with demonstrated experience managing multi-family residential properties of similar size, scope and complexity, and with the capacity, systems and track record to deliver professional property management services.

The RFP closes November 23, 2026, at 3:00 pm MST.

The renewal of the Chartered Community Act and Partnership Agreement is being developed through a collaborative and culturally informed process. MNBC wants to hear from Métis Chartered Community Leaders, community boards, MNBC Citizens, and self-identified Métis across British Columbia.

Statement - For Immediate Release

SURREY, BC – Métis Nation British Columbia leadership strongly condemns ill-informed comments made yesterday by Assembly of First Nations’ National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak about Métis identity and our place in Canada. Our rights are clearly defined in section 35 of the Canadian Constitution as one of the three Indigenous Peoples of Canada along with the First Nations and Inuit. We are not, as the National Chief describes us as “pretendians” but are a rights bearing people who will not be defined by other Indigenous groups. We know who we are and where we come from.

As leaders of the Métis Nation in British Columbia, we call on the National Chief to retract her harmful comments and to engage in dialogue with Métis leadership to encourage mutual respect and understanding. We have a shared story with First Nations and Inuit peoples, together we have suffered greatly. Let us not demean each other but rather hold each other up and hold Canada to account to make life better for all our peoples. To do otherwise would only serve to continue the harmful legacy of colonialism across our homeland. We are always stronger when we support each other.
