Hi Dr. Ruth!

My beloved childhood bear affectionately named Bruce is in need of some TLC. He's been with me through thick and thin the last 18 years and it's time he heads to the spa!

I've been covering his limbs in socks the last couple years in hopes I could find someone that could fix him up and I happened to stumble across your Instagram page. His paw pads and his ear pads need replacement and he would benefit from the full spa treatment. Bernice

Hi Bernice, I can give Bruce a spa treatment & grooming, give him new paw pads & inner ears & maybe a little more stuffing.

Hi Bernice, He’s ready to go home. He’s had his spa treatment, new paw & footpads & ear linings.

He looks fantastic and all refreshed from the spa! Thank you so much. Bernice

My teddy was given to me in London during the war about 1941. My mom saw an advertisement for a teddy bear for sale. The young woman selling it was 18 years old and entering nursing training so she was selling her things. I was about two and new toys were not easy to find. After the war we moved to Toronto with my teddy which was the only toy I could bring. In 1951 we moved to the U.S. and he has sat on a shelf in my closets since that time. I am now 86 years old and would love to have him repaired. My youngest granddaughter turns 21 this year and I would like to give him to her. She knows the story of teddy and I think she would love to have him. She is a sweet and sentimental young college student. Teddy also used to squeak so there may be a hidden treasure inside. Thank you. Carol

Hi Carol, That’s a lovely story of your teddy bear. He looks in good shape for his age. He looks like he could enjoy a surface wash spa & new foot pads. I can’t tell if he needs paw pads too. His noise maker is probably a growler. I can include that too if you’d like. I’ll send a video of the sound.

Hi Carol, He made it safely & he’s glad to be out of the box😊 Ruth

Oh I’m glad. I felt guilty squishing in that box but it was all I had. Don’t let him gain any weight. Carol

Hi Carol, Teddy is ready to go home. He’s had his spa treatment, new neck joint, eyes inserted tightly, all limbs stuffed well, one fractured arm repaired, new paw & foot pads, more stuffing, & new growler. I’m looking for a new box - he refused to be squeezed into that box! 🫸 🫷. Ruth Hi Carol, I found a nice box that Teddy liked. He’s cushioned with special paper to give him comfort on his way home.

He’s Here. Thank you so much. It means the world to me. My mailman was fascinated by the story so I told him about your hospital for toys. He sounded like he might be interested. Carol

Hello - I’m wondering if you might be able to assist with restoration of a stuffed dog, Bernie. He’s quite large (about 3 feet long) and sadly had been relegated to the garage for some time. Needs a thorough cleaning, at least one hole fixed, possibly more stuffing.
Many thanks , Megan

Hi Megan, He looks like he’ll need a couple of spa treatments & grooming. I can also fix any holes & give him new stuffing.

Hi Megan, After looking at your dog, I discovered he was stuffed with foam chips. They were starting to disintegrate - I had to remove them since they can be toxic & also degrade his fur. He’s in for his first spa treatment today 😩 Ruth

Oh wow, thanks for the update. Glad you were able to remove the foam filling - hope it wasn't too much trouble! Hope the spa treatments go well. Looks like we will have some sun over the next couple of days.

He’s going to need another treatment - he’s still dirty but he does look better. Foam chips are gone. Ruth

Glad to hear that! And glad he survived the first round at the spa. 😆

Bernie was welcomed home! Thanks again 😊

So cute 🥰 Can I use that picture on my Instagram? Ruth

Checked with the kiddos and they say that would be fine 😄

For the chimp stuffed toy, would be looking to just get his pants repaired as they are torn and shredding in different areas. And for him we were specifically wanting to keep his pants that tartan patterned fabric. Or if not that specific tartan pattern, then some other tartan pattern. So wondering if that would be possible?

Look forward to hearing what you think their chances of repair are!

Thanks,
Sunita

All fixed up! Ruth
