Today members of the Museum gathered to farewell a dear friend, colleague and board member Sgt Craig Reynolds.
A kind, generous and hilarious member of the Museum team, Craig brought a community spirit and sense of fun to all meetings and events. An inspiration to all we strive to do.

Craig you will be very missed.

Charlie is officially entering his Swiftie Era!

For the past few days, Charlie has been rocking some pretty iconic neckwear from our new exhibit, "Who We Are." This "1989" necklace wasn't just made for Wildest Dreams, it’s a genuine piece of local pop-culture history. It was actually worn by a four-legged member of the VPD Mounted Unit during the Eras Tour right here in Vancouver, where the unit joined in the fun and exchanged friendship bracelets with fans.

We can’t promise Charlie will drop a surprise album, but he’s definitely ready for his close-up. Come by this week to check out the new exhibit and see his pop-star sparkle in person!

A special shout-out goes to Sergeant Conrad Van Dyk and the officers of the VPD's Mounted Unit for pulling back the curtain on the dedication, psychology, and trust it takes to train these extraordinary horses. Vancouver is lucky to have you on our trails and streets.

Today, we honour the memory of Constable James Archibald, who lost his life 113 years ago while protecting the streets of Vancouver.

In the early hours of May 28, 1913, the 27-year-old officer was patrolling a rash of burglaries on Powell Street when he intercepted two suspects. Outnumbered and caught in a dangerous situation, Constable Archibald was tragically shot and killed in the line of duty.

Thanks to swift work by VPD detectives, the suspects were caught within 24 hours and later brought to justice.

With just 13 months on the force, Constable Archibald’s courage and vigilance will never be forgotten.

On Wednesday, May 27th, we’re opening our doors for an intimate look into the world of one of Vancouver’s most beloved police units. This isn’t just a history lesson; it’s a deep dive into the unique bond between officer and horse. Ever wonder how the VPD’s Canine Unit got its start?
This replica logbook from the 1960s gives you a rare look into the files of Vancouver’s very first police service dogs, including Sabre, a German Shepherd born in 1959 who officially began training in August 1962.

From donation records to tactical training notes, these pages tell the raw, real, and sometimes solemn stories of the dogs who paved the way for today's squad.
