📢 Exciting progress is being made at Harwood Road Recreation Ground's play area in Rishton!

Despite some challenging weather over the last week or 2, work is continuing well and we're looking forward to unveiling a fantastic new facility for local children and families very soon!

Unfortunately, we've experienced a small number of incidents where people have entered the construction site outside working hours, resulting in damage to recently completed work. This means contractors have had to spend time and resources carrying out repairs rather than progressing the project.

The fenced-off area remains a construction site and is not safe to enter. We're asking everyone to help protect this investment and encourage children to stay out of the site until work is complete.

Thank you for your support and patience. We can't wait to share the finished play area with the community.

🗞️ NEWS: New Windsor Road Play Area Opens in Time for Half-Term! 🎉🛝

The Autumn leaves may be falling, but families in Great Harwood can now enjoy a fantastic new play area at Windsor Road Recreation Ground following the completion of a £70,000 refurbishment project.

Funded through the UK Government's Pride in Place Impact Fund, with additional investment from Hyndburn Borough Council, the improved facility features brand-new swings, slides, a large rope swing and interactive play elements inspired by the nearby fire station.

The project forms part of a wider programme of investment in parks and play areas across Hyndburn. Improvements at Gatty Park have already been completed, work is progressing at Harwood Road Recreation Ground in Rishton, consultation is ongoing for a new skatepark in Accrington, and several more play area improvement projects are set to get underway in the coming months.

With half-term now here, there's no better time for local families to get outdoors and enjoy the new facilities (Weather permitting 🙏)
