❓ Can I use my childcare funding during the school holidays?
✅ Yes! This is called the Stretched Offer.
If your childcare provider offers stretched funding, they can spread your funded hours across more than the standard 38 weeks of the year, helping to cover childcare costs during school holidays too.
📌 Important: To benefit from the stretched offer, your child must be attending from the start of the term.

These sessions are for families who are electively home educating, as well as young people who are educated otherwise than in school or who may not currently be in education, employment or training.
You are very welcome whether your young person is actively applying this year or simply starting to explore their options.

At the sessions, support is available with:
• Understanding post‑16 options and pathways (college, sixth form, apprenticeships and training)
• Finding courses and apprenticeships
• Making applications
• Writing CVs and personal statements
• Interview preparation and advice

There’s no need to book – you can drop in at any point during the session time and stay as long or as little as you like. Parents and carers are encouraged to attend alongside their young person, and you’re also welcome to come on your own to gather information.
If you have any questions, or would like more information ahead of attending, you can get in touch with the team at [email protected].

Last night Aimi and Paula attended Howden School’s career fair, they met some wonderful students who were interested to learn more about a career in childcare. Some year 9 and 10 students were considering where they might go for their work experience placement, and Year 11 students were keen to hear about apprenticeships in the local area. They left with lots of information from us and local colleges.😃
