A place for little ones to play and a new reason for families to visit Pocklington’s high street.

When Beth Davies had the idea for Boffy’s Play Cafe , she wanted to create a welcoming space where parents and carers could relax while young children played safely.

With tailored support from Invest East Yorkshire Business Advisor Stacey Middlewood, Beth turned that idea into a reality.

From business planning and navigating food business requirements to securing UKSPF Capital and Start-Up Grants, our Business Support Services team helped Beth prepare for launch and invest in essential café and play equipment.

Since opening in February, Boffy’s has welcomed local families and visitors, with many play sessions fully booked. The café is also exploring new activities and evening events, bringing more opportunities for people to connect in the town centre.

🤝 New partnership set to bring more opportunities to local supply chains!

The Supply Chain Network has partnered with YORhub to help businesses across Yorkshire and the Humber access subcontracting and supplier opportunities through its YORbuild and YORcivils frameworks.

Using TSCN’s Opportunities Map, main contractors will be able to share opportunities directly with suppliers, making it easier for businesses to connect and get involved in construction and civil engineering projects across the region.

The partnership is expected to generate approximately £1 million in additional opportunities for businesses registered on the platform, which already hosts more than 1,600 businesses.

Meet the Tenant: The Learning Line Ltd

Meet The Learning Line, an education-focused business based at ergo Business Centre in Hessle.

Founded by Katie Cavill in 2022, The Learning Line provides world-class continuing professional development to schools, multi-academy trusts, local authorities and educational professionals around the world.

Drawing on 13 years of experience in the sector, Katie established the business after identifying a need for a relationship-led service that helps education providers connect with high-quality speakers and consultants.

Since launching, The Learning Line has supported events attended by more than 90,000 delegates and now works with a network of around 40 speakers and consultants.

The business has also launched a free sustainability programme for nurseries and primary schools, helping them work towards the Department for Education’s Sustainability and Climate Change goals.

Speaking about the move to ergo, Katie said:

“Being here has given us a great location to work from. The facilities are excellent, and having a professional backdrop for virtual client meetings gives the business greater credibility.”
