Katie Malco is a brilliant indie singer-songwriter who performs "music that sits quietly somewhere between an aching, serene sadness and a hopeful determination". She also has great onstage banter and is a particular favourite of a number of us here at Bearwood Council!

She is performing at Bearwood Shuffle and the organisers allowed us to intervew her! We tried not to ask her anything too weird, and failed only slightly at this. We found out (amongst other things) that she likes shoe museums.

Read the interview below!

Question: This vehicle pulls up in Bearwood and the driver says "there's no time to explain! Get in, we're going on an adventure!".

Do you get in?

What sort of adventure do you think it'll be?

The end of May marks the annual migration of the Alpaca herd along Bearwood Road to graze the lush grasslands of Lightwoods Park.

The migration can be perilous on account of the traffic and evangelical buskers but some shops, such as Oak Ca Phe thoughtfully provide nourishing plants to keep the Alpacas' strength up on their journey.

We would like to announce the launch of a cutting edge 'teletext' information service which will see Bearwood (and controlled territories) residents being able to receive current affairs, entertainment and sports news through their TVs!

You can also play Michael Bearymore's interactive BearBoozler quiz!

This new service (which will replace the internet) will provide completely unbiased information direct from (and sanctioned by) Bearwood Council.

THERE'S BEEN A DE-ESCALATION!

Kings Heath and Bearwood have stepped back from the brink of war, following the Shuffle Poster Crisis.

Negotiations have now opened, aimed at reopening the Straight of Vicarage Road, to allow the number 11 bus to pass through freely again.

We are proud to announce the opening of our first Bearwoodian Embassy in Ukraine, in the City of Kyiv.

The reason the sign reads 'Beerwood' is because our embassy is also a hip hangout joint. Much cooler than the much more earnest Stirchleyan embassy opposite.

The King's Heath Neighbourhood Forum, have told us they consider the appearance of a BEARWOOD Shuffle poster on their notice board to be an Act of War.

They've threatened retaliation including, but not limited to, putting up of posters in Bearwood advertising their own events, such as their 'York Road Artisanal Cheese-stroking Event' and pictures of Joe Lycett's face.

As a Council, we hope to be able to resolve his conflict soon, as the KHNF blockade of the no.11 bus route is greatly affecting our trade routes....

Friendly Fire Band are Brum Reggae legends! - and they're performing at the FREE Bearwood Shuffle festival in Lightwoods Park on the 6th June.

Bearwood Council were allowed to interview the band (we assume the festival organisers were drunk when they agreed to this!). We asked them questions about Jam-making, and why Carl Chinn's rumoured rap verse was omitted from It's a Brum Ting...

TUESDAY TRIVIA: Did you know, in about 400AD Bearwood was located in the mysterious Brythonic kingdom of PENGWERN. The area was assumedly named due to the widespread practice of penguin farming by the local population.

There's been a recent trend of celebrities and influencers naming children after areas of Birmingham and the Black Country.

In order to assist parents in choosing a prospective name we've put together this map to show which baby names we feel are acceptable and which ones are a big no no! (For example: Bushbury is a GREAT name for a fox, but a terrible name for a human.)
