⚠️ Site Works Update⚠️

Some areas of the woods will be temporarily closed from Monday 2nd November for path improvement and storm repair works.

↗️Lady Vale Walk. The first section of the Lady Vale Walk, from the Rangers Hut to Centenary Bridge, will be closed.
✅All other walking trails can be accessed from the other side of the car park.
⏸️The Room on the Broom Activity Trail will be paused while works are taking place.
❗Meadow site - Badger Forest School will be closed until 7th November. Please follow any instructions provided regarding alternative arrangements.
↗️Cycle trails: Bodmin Beast 3/4 open, Hell's Teeth closed. Please follow diversions along the Lady Vale while we work with our contractors to repair storm damage.

We anticipate these works will take 2/3 weeks to complete. Some of you may have had a sneak peak of the new path along the Lady Vale during half term, we're excited to show you the finished results! 💚

⚠️Please follow all on-site signage and instructions to help keep visitors, contractors and staff safe. Thank you for your patience and understanding while these essential improvements are carried out.

No two woodlands are the same, and that's exactly how it should be.

The forests we care for are managed individually, guided by the natural potential of the land, the species that live there, and the challenges a changing climate brings.

Some areas are rich, shady woodland. Others are open heathland, wetlands, young plantations, veteran woodland or species-rich rides and glades.

Each habitat plays an important role. Together they provide homes for wildlife, places for people to enjoy, sustainable timber, cleaner air, stored carbon and healthier, more resilient landscapes.

Each woodland may look very different from one another, but each is being carefully managed to help nature, people and the forest of the future thrive.

This isn't a treat 🎃 Please do not bring pumpkins to the forest.

Pumpkins are not natural to the woodland and they can make some animals, such as hedgehogs, very poorly. They can also spread disease.

There are some great recipe ideas online - have you tried pumpkin soup, curry, or risotto?

If pumpkin is not your thing, add it to your compost bin or food waste caddy to dispose of responsibly.

After visits from Storm Austen and Boelo, our Rangers have been busy at work ensuring that the woods are safe for our visitors. 💨

Whilst all walking trails are now fully open, our cycle trails have taken some storm damage. We have implemented a diversion along the Bodmin Beast and Hell's Teeth is fully closed. Thank you for your patience whilst we await repairs.

We are open! Thank you for your patience while we were closed during Storm Austen. We're still monitoring the forecast today and may close facilities again later if wind speeds pass our safety threshold.

Sadly, the bike trails will remain closed due to damage. We'll start the process to have these repaired as soon as possible, but don't yet know how long it might take.

There may still be fallen trees or branches in the wider forest so please take care while visiting. Don’t approach leaning or fallen trees and please let us know if you spot any blocked paths.

Cardinham Woods car park and visitor facilities are closed all day today (Friday) due to Storm Austen. There is a high risk of falling trees and debris, so consider postponing any trips to the forest - or other woodlands - until the wind drops.

We will be on site to check trails when it is safe to do so. Please bear with us while we inspect many miles of trails. Fallen and leaning trees can be very dangerous, so it’s important that we do this thoroughly before re-opening facilities. We won't be able to estimate a reopening time until we see what we find, so please check our channels for updates before travelling.
