❌ No mountain
❌ No snow

Sadly, last night, one of our Fire Fighters Charity clothing recycling bins was deliberately set alight.

Not only is starting deliberate fires extremely dangerous, but this mindless action has destroyed clothes kindly donated by our fantastic communities and supporters.

Like all charities, every pound raised makes a big difference. Needless incidents like this have a direct impact on the people who rely on the Fire Fighters Charity’s services during what could be the most challenging time in their life. Money that could have gone towards supporting members of our fire service community will now have to be used to cover the costs of this damage.

We’d like to thank our crews who attended the incident and everyone who continues to support the Fire Fighters Charity.

If you have any unwanted clothing, please considering donating through our recycling facilities at most of our local fire stations, or find your nearest clothes bin on the Fire Fighters Charity Website (https://bit.ly/4yoKwc6), and help us continue providing support to our firefighting community.

Our hard-working canine colleagues at East Midlands Fire Investigation Dog Team have been recognised at the UK Service Dogs Awards!

Ginny and Barney, and their handlers Dave Coss and Tim Marston, provide a specialist fire investigation capability across the East Midlands, supporting ourselves, as well as Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Services in providing vital evidence to the cause of fires.

Their superior sniffing skills and excellent paw-formance won them the Special Team Award at the UK Service Dogs Awards, held earlier this month. Good boy Barney! Good girl Ginny!

🔥 Today is National Burn Awareness Day.

A burn can happen in seconds – but the effects can last a lifetime. Today we’re joining Children’s Burns Trust and the British Burn Association to help prevent avoidable burns and scalds.

☕ Keep hot drinks well out of children’s reach and away from the edges of tables and worktops.
🍳 Keep hot pans out of reach and turn handles in.
♨️ Check hot water bottles for wear and never fill them with boiling water.

And if a burn happens, remember: COOL, CALL, COVER.
💧 COOL under cool running water for 20 minutes.
📞 CALL 999 for serious burns or seek medical advice.
🩹 COVER loosely with cling film.

Knowing what to do could make a real difference.
