Halloween is just around the corner and the supermarkets are full of spooky sweets. 🍬

Don’t forget any aluminium wrappers such as chocolate or sweet wrappers can be recycled. Scrunched them all together into a ball - the bigger the better.

You can also save your plastic wrappings and sweet bags and recycle those at your local supermarket or in the blue bag if you’re a part of the flexible plastic collection scheme!

If you're carving a pumpkin this Halloween, make sure you cut down on waste by using up the flesh to make Halloween delicacies such as pumpkin pie, risotto or soup.

♻️ Don't forget you can put pumpkin in your food recycling bin (leave it next to your bin) or add it to your own compost heap.

Are you carving a pumpkin this Halloween?

When Halloween is over, simply chop up your pumpkin and put it in your food waste caddy, or communal food bin if you live in a flat, not your garden waste bin.

Or you can leave it next to your caddy or food bin on collection day, and the crews will collect it. You can put it in a bag to avoid any mess.

If you have decorated your pumpkin, please remove any candles, plastic decorations, stickers, or other non-food items.

If you don’t have a food waste caddy and would like one, or need an additional one, see link in comments.

Bracknell Forest Council is due to raise concerns with ministers about how quickly changes to local government funding have been put in place.

The government changed the way it allocates money to local councils at the end of last year following the Fairer Funding Review. The council estimates this change will see a funding gap of £18 million affecting Bracknell Forest between 2026 and 2029.

Bracknell Forest Council is working with Wokingham Borough Council and other similarly affected authorities to show government ministers how changes to grant funding will affect local people and communities.

They will write to the minister responsible for local government funding to request that reductions in each council's core grant between 2026 to 2027 and 2028 to 2029 be capped at a maximum of 10 per cent.

They will also invite the minister to discuss their concerns about how essential services can be safeguarded against a backdrop of rising demand, rising costs and reduced government funding.
