Children & Families Remembrance Parade and Service - Saturday 7th November 2026.

This event is arranged specifically for younger children and families and will provide an opportunity for primary school aged children to learn about the importance of Remembrance.

Children will actively participate in the event by gathering from 10.25am at the top of Wyndham Street. At 10.40am they will march to the War Memorial in Dunraven Place, led by the 1092 Bridgend Sqn RAF Air Cadets Corps of Drums.

At the War Memorial Reverend Rachel Wheeler will conduct a short age appropriate Remembrance Service, a minute silence will be observed and the children will lay their wreaths.

This service will take place irrespective of weather conditions (unless adverse weather deems the event dangerous). We ask that those attending dress appropriately for the weather conditions on the day.

Further information regarding Remembrance events and for any changes to this event please see our website and page www.bridgendtowncouncil.gov.uk

A lovely recognition of the hard work that goes into organising Bridgend’s annual Armed Forces Day celebrations.

Thank you to everyone who helps bring this important community event to life and gives residents the opportunity to show their support for our Armed Forces, veterans and their families.

👏 Last week, I had the privilege of presenting a well-deserved letter of commendation from the UK Defence Secretary to Bridgend Town Council, recognising their fantastic and tireless work in organising our annual Armed Forces Day celebrations.

🎖️ Each year, Armed Forces Day brings people together from across our constituency in Bridgend Town Centre, giving residents the opportunity to show their support and appreciation for serving personnel, veterans and Armed Forces families.

Thank you Bridgend Arts for acknowledging Nick, Bridgend Town Council's Front of House.

We know that those of you who have met Nick on visits to Carnegie House and the Town Hall will agree wholeheartedly with their comments.

Thank you Nick, we definitely couldn't do all we do without you!

It takes a lot of people behind the scenes to keep the wheels turning, and Bridgend Does Art simply couldn’t have happened without our brilliant team of volunteers who gave their time, energy and enthusiasm throughout the exhibition, a massive thanks to them 💖

We want to give a particularly big shout-out to Nick, front of house at Carnegie House.
Nick was there for us every day, leading up to the exhibition, washing glasses on the opening, opening the doors, keeping everything running and supporting us with whatever we needed.

To Nick and every single person who volunteered, helped, carried, welcomed, organised, tidied, made tea, dropped off bakestones and kept us going…

THANK YOU.

You were a huge part of making Bridgend Does Art happen.

This is your chance to represent your generation, contribute to local projects and help shape the future of your community. While the roles are non-voting, the experience will give you a closer look at how Town and Community Councils work at a local level.

Meetings are typically held at 6.30pm on the 3rd Monday of each month, both in person at Bridgend Town Hall, Sunnyside and online.
Find out more about this opportunity and how to apply at:

The co-opted Youth Representatives are drawn from young people, age 16 – 25, who live, work or receive education within the three Town Wards of Morfa, Oldcastle and Newcastle. See ward boundaries and maps for further details.
