Cumbria Police will have an increased high-visibility presence in Carlisle this weekend as the city prepares to welcome thousands of people to the annual Fireshow, making it a busy and exciting time for Carlisle.

Carlisle Neighbourhood Policing Team, PCSOs and partner agencies will be out in greater numbers across the city centre and the surrounding event location, providing reassurance, engaging with communities and helping ensure everyone can enjoy the event safely.

Ahead of the Carlisle Fireshow, a dispersal order has been authorised for Carlisle city centre from 2pm until 11.59pm on Saturday 31 October.

The order gives officers additional powers to direct individuals involved in anti-social behaviour to leave the area and not return. Anyone who fails to comply with a dispersal order may be liable to arrest.

Inspector Andy Leather from Carlisle Neighbourhood Policing Team said:

"We're looking forward to supporting what is set to be an enjoyable and busy weekend in Carlisle.

"There will be an enhanced policing presence throughout the day and evening, with officers and PCSOs patrolling key areas, engaging with the public and providing reassurance.

"We know that the overwhelming majority of those attending will do so responsibly and help create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

"We want everyone attending to have a safe and positive experience, and our officers will be on hand throughout the weekend to offer support and assistance."

Anyone witnessing crime or anti-social behaviour is encouraged to report it to police.

If a crime is in progress always call 999.

Reports can also be made online at: https://orlo.uk/KS7WH
