💬 We’ve seen concerns from residents about proposed strategic sites and how new housing would be distributed across the district.

As we get closer to the end of the Local Plan consultation on 3 November, we’ve asked Council Leader Cllr Mike Evemy to respond to some of the questions being raised on social media.

In this video, Mike explains why the proposed strategy spreads growth across a number of locations rather than concentrating development in one place.

There are 11 strategic sites planned across the district, including the already existing site at The Steadings.

The aim is to plan for homes, infrastructure and community facilities together while supporting sustainable communities across the district.

There’s still time to have your say on the proposed Local Plan before the consultation closes.

Please don't forget to dispose of carved Halloween pumpkins responsibly 🎃

If you compost at home, putting any pumpkin leftovers into your compost bin is the best option, cutting it into chunks first to speed up the process.

Or you can put leftovers into your food caddy to be collected by your weekly kerbside food waste service. Please remove any candle wax or decorations first and cut your pumpkin into smaller pieces to fit.

Do NOT leave pumpkins outside for wildlife to eat - while it is a tasty snack for some, it will make animals such as hedgehogs very poorly, and can spread disease 🦔

⚠️ Be aware of scams claiming to offer early access to the Government's £100 energy bill support payment.

The Government has announced a £100 payment to help with energy bills for households in Council Tax Bands A to D, expected to be paid during winter 2026/27.

We are still awaiting detailed guidance from Government on how the scheme will operate and no applications are currently open.

Please be cautious of emails, texts or phone calls asking you to apply, share personal information or provide bank details to receive the payment. These may be scams.

We will publish information on our website and social media channels as soon as further details are available. If in doubt, contact us directly using the details on our website.

Cotswold District Council Leader, Cllr Mike Evemy, has responded to the Government's latest update on local government reorganisation in Gloucestershire.

The Government has said it is "minded to" confirm a single unitary authority for Gloucestershire and is working towards a final decision before Christmas.

Commenting on the announcement, Cllr Evemy said:

"It is helpful to have greater clarity from the Government on the timetable for local government reorganisation in Gloucestershire. But while the delay provides more time to develop proposals for the future, it also creates challenges, including preparing for district council elections next year alongside ongoing financial pressures. I would urge the Government to put every effort into supporting councils through this transition.

"Despite that uncertainty, Cotswold District Council is in a strong position. We have a balanced budget, a new Local Plan progressing towards examination, and major investments underway to improve services.

"We've taken decisions over recent years with one eye on local government reorganisation, ensuring that whether responsibilities transfer to a new council in the future or remain with us for longer than expected, we are well placed to succeed and to continue delivering for our residents, businesses and communities."
