"A major community rally calling for adequate hospital services will be held in County Derry this weekend.
The outdoor event, which has been organised by campaign group SOS Causeway Hospital in conjunction with UNISON, will take place at Coleraine Town Hall on Saturday, October 24 at 1pm.

The urgent mobilisation builds directly on a landmark joint campaign launched this week by five hospital groups across the North."

"HOSPITAL campaigners have called on the community to mobilise for a ‘major rally’ at Coleraine Town Hall this Saturday.

Organised in conjunction with public sector union UNISON, the event aims to address “mounting distress” over the state of local healthcare and threatened services at Causeway Hospital.

Campaign group SOS Causeway Hospital says it wants “every single citizen” as well as national and local political representatives, trade unions, community groups, schools, and sports organisations to get behind a series of meetings and rallies this week in support of rural healthcare."

“We have come together because these are not isolated local disputes. They raise a shared question about whether rural communities receive fair and timely access to vital hospital care.

Every Minister receiving this letter must consider what their own department can do. Passing the issue back to Health is not an adequate response. Rural lives matter, and protecting timely access
to acute hospital services must be a responsibility shared across the Executive.”

A pleasure to join SOS Daisy Hill last night at their public meeting in Newry as they fight to save their maternity services.
Same erosion of services, just a different order!
The decision was taken last night for Newry to rally on Sunday 25th October.
There is strength in unity!

Thanks to Niall Deeney for covering our FOI responses - at least the ones we have received. We await the rest which are now two months late.
Why is that?

"The Northern Trust, however, say there is "no evidence that the reconfiguration of maternity has impacted on the safety of the services."

​Official data finally exposes the devastating reality behind the centralisation of maternity services at Antrim Area Hospital:
​📉 Over 49,000 hours of staff sickness absence in 2025.
​🏥 Hundreds of monthly bank shifts plugging a breaking system.
​⚠️ Nearly 2,600 safety incident reports (Datix) since 2022.

​The numbers prove Antrim could not cope — yet the exact same dangerous centralisation playbook is now being lined up for Daisy Hill Hospital.
​We demand full transparency, real workforce support and an urgent review before history repeats itself.
Staff on the ground must be supported, communities must be protected, the safety of mothers and babies must come first.
