Conwy in Bloom 2026 awards evening at the Guildhall

Yesterday evening, the Mayor Cllr Sian Grady was joined by the Chairman of Wales in Bloom Peter Barton-Price to hand out awards to our community groups and schools who entered the Wales in Bloom competition this year, and to recognise the hard work of our local businesses and residents of all three towns, in the very first Conwy in Bloom awards!
Volunteers and talented people who joined the competition route, to show off the very best of Conwy and our culture and heritage to the judges earlier in the year were also invited to receive a certificate of thanks.
To top it all off, we were awarded our Gold award and best small town in Wales award!
Cllr Evie Roberts also received a community champion award.
It was a wonderful evening, enjoyed by all and a perfect opportunity to celebrate and appreciate the fantastic community we have in Conwy, Deganwy and Llandudno Junction.

Rhybudd Tywydd: Gwyntoedd Cryfion a Glaw Trwm
Weather Warning: High Winds and Heavy Rain 🌧️

We’ve reached that time of year again when the weather can become a little more unpredictable!

From the early hours of Friday and throughout much of the day, we’re expecting unsettled weather, with strong winds and heavy rain across the catchment area.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, with wind gusts potentially reaching 50 to 70 mph or more.

With this in mind, please take a little extra care to make sure all garden items are securely fastened and have enough support to prevent them from falling or being blown around.

Thanks everyone for your help in keeping things safe during the rough weather.
Stay safe and take care!

We’re really disappointed to announce that this year’s Deganwy Boxing Day Dip will not be going ahead.
Following a meeting of the Council last night, and advice from our safety advisers, and those involved in assessing the conditions, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event on safety grounds.
The reason is the unusually high tide expected on Boxing Day, with a very strong incoming tidal current forecast. The conditions would create a significantly higher risk for anyone entering the water and would make it much more difficult to manage safely, even with appropriate rescue arrangements in place.
We know this will be disappointing for all those brave, hardy and slightly mad souls who look forward to taking the plunge every year! 🥶😂
But safety has to come first.
Thank you to everyone who was looking forward to taking part, supporting the event and helping us put it together. We really appreciate your understanding.
Don’t worry though... we’ll be back! 🎅🌊
We’ll see you on the beach for the Boxing Day Dip 2027. Hopefully with slightly kinder tides and plenty of cold water courage!
Thank you for your continued support. ❤️

The Walled Towns Car Run 2026 brought another fantastic collection of classic cars to North Wales.

Starting in Denbigh, the route took participants through the historic walled towns of Conwy, Beaumaris and Caernarfon, with a stop in each town along the way.

Conwy was delighted to welcome around 150 classic cars to Bodlondeb, creating a fantastic atmosphere and giving residents and visitors the chance to see a wonderful range of historic vehicles up close.

The event is hosted by the participating town councils, with each town playing its part in making the rally such a popular annual event.

A big thank you to everyone who took part, to the organisers and volunteers, and to everyone who came along to support the event and enjoy the cars as they made their way through North Wales.

Conwy Town Council Civic Sunday Parade
The Mayor of Conwy and Constable of the Castle, Councillor Sian Grady, accompanied by her Mayoral Cadet, Alfie Roberts, laid a wreath at the Cenotaph on Sunday in remembrance of those who gave their lives in service of their country.

Conwy Town Councillors then marched through the town as part of the annual Civic Parade. Led by the Menai Bridge Band and the Mayor, Cllr Sian Grady, the parade set off from Bodlondeb at 10.45am and made its way along Bangor Road into Lancaster Square, where crowds had gathered along the pavements to watch the procession.

The parade was joined by civic dignitaries from Chester, Llandudno, Colwyn Bay, Rhuddlan, Penmaenmawr, Beaumaris and Denbigh, alongside members of the Armed Forces, Cub Scouts, local councillors and community representatives.

The procession continued to St Mary's Church for the Civic Service at 11am.

Following the service, the Mayor said:

“Thank you so much for attending the Civic Parade, family, councillors, distinguished guests and lovely members of the public.

I felt absolutely honoured and very humble. Thank you.”

The Civic Sunday Parade is an important part of Conwy's civic calendar and provides an opportunity for the town to come together to celebrate its community, traditions and civic heritage.
A sincere thank you to everyone who took part, supported the event and lined the streets to welcome the parade.
