Low air pressure, water and a fine, inert granulate. That is all it takes to make a gentle swirling vortex.

TORC uses that vortex to clean delicate masonry, with pressure blasts as low as 1 to 2 bar. It is for the gentle removal of carbon sulphation, brittle paints, limescale and much more.

Did you know most DOFFIII failures can be avoided before the machine is switched on?

Contaminated fuel and inadequate electrical or water supplies cause the majority of all failures. So the checks are simple. Use clean, uncontaminated diesel, kerosene or HVO bio-fuel, never petrol or gasoline. Use a clean, cold water supply with positive pressure, at approximately 5 litres per minute. Use a 110 volt 16 amp supply, or a 3.5KVA continuous output generator, only use the extension lead provided with your DOFFIII machine.

Get those right and the DOFFIII, which uses superheated water at up to 150°C at the nozzle, can get on with the job. Only Stonehealth inducted and authorised operators should use it.

A wall beside a busy road takes a beating that a sheltered one never does.

Stone Revival returned to this property in Otley, West Yorkshire, to give the boundary wall a heavy steam clean. Years of traffic pollution had built up alongside heavy organic growth, staining the wall and hiding the natural stone completely.

Is DOFF only for stone?

No. The DOFF Integra is rated for brick, stone, concrete, glazed and encaustic tile, wood, faience and terracotta. One machine, one method: superheated water and steam at up to 150°C at the nozzle, with temperature and pressure adjustable by the operator.

That matters on mixed-material buildings, where tile, terracotta and timber sit alongside brick and stone. Spores are killed without chemical biocides, using around 5 litres of water a minute, and 0% surface damage.

Ashlar Stone & Render Care have been cleaning the sandstone of a traditional heritage railway bridge around Bridge of Weir, Kilmacolm and Houston, using DOFF superheated steam.

Does a longer hose mean a cooler nozzle?

On a lot of equipment, it does. The further the heat has to travel, the more of it you lose on the way, and the cleaning result changes with it.

DOFFIII is built to avoid that. It delivers 150°C at the nozzle, and the temperature stays consistent even at 45m of extended hose. A bespoke digital controller checks temperature, pressure and safety settings up to five times a second, so the heat you set is the heat you get at the surface.

That matters on long runs and awkward access, where you cannot move the machine closer. You can also switch it on and off from up to 50m away.
