Good news! White City will now be included in the Matson & Robinswood Pride in Place programme, recognising the strong connections that have existed between these neighbouring communities for years.

The change means that more residents may benefit from a programme that puts local people at the heart of changes in their own neighbourhood, potentially bringing in up to £20 million of government funding over the next 10 years.

The boundary change was requested by the Pride in Place Board, following feedback from residents, community groups, schools, churches, charities and local organisations.

And from this autumn, there will be opportunities for locals to share ideas, talk about what matters to them the most and help shape a long-term vision for the area.

Take a look at the Matson & Robinswood Pride in Place page to find out who’s on the Neighbourhood Board and see how to get involved.

The Government has today announced that it is “minded to” confirm one new council for Gloucestershire, following an initial review of previous decisions.

A new decision is expected before Christmas.

If confirmed:
🗳️ Elections to the new council would take place in May 2028.
📅 The new council would start operating in April 2029.

May 2027 elections will go ahead for Cotswold District Council, Forest of Dean District Council and Tewkesbury Borough Council on existing boundaries.

The Government will consider further representations on the single unitary option before making its final decision.

Last weekend, Mayor Cllr Adrian Graham and Sheriff and Deputy Mayor Cllr Anne Radley joined local volunteers to help launch this year's Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

The stall, organised by volunteers Bob and Rachel Perkins, offers a wide range of ways to support the annual Appeal, from traditional poppies to car poppies, poppy reflectors for dogs' collars and festival bands, zip pulls and poppy-themed stationery for children.

Also on display is a silk poppy wreath created in 1922, the oldest known poppy wreath in Gloucestershire, donated by the family of the late Melville Watts OBE.

The main appeal stall will be in the Eastgate Shopping Centre until 7 November, with a smaller presence continuing until Armistice Day on 11 November.

There are loads of things to do with a pumpkin – you can roast the seeds with seasoning and spices for an energy-rich snack, you can use the flesh to make soup, pie, puree or even a pumpkin spiced latte!

And of course you can carve your pumpkin for a Halloween decoration 🎃

Whatever you do with your pumpkin this autumn, please remember to recycle your food waste.

Leftover pumpkin can be chopped up and put into your food caddy, and once Halloween is over, you can leave your whole carved pumpkin on top of your caddy for collection.

Have you created a Gloucester-themed pumpkin this year? We'd love to see it.

The secret's out - the latest cyber firm joining The Forum is... CSA Cyber!

Since launching in Gloucester in 2013, the cyber security specialist has helped protect more than 500 companies.

The move will see nearly 100 employees relocate to the city centre office space in early 2027, as part of parent company FluidOne's investment in its security-first technology strategy.

A Gloucester-grown success story with national and international reach, CSA Cyber's decision to choose The Forum is another major endorsement of the award-winning development.

Ready for something ghostly this half-term? A gaggle of ten gorgeous ghosts are haunting businesses across the city centre as part of the Ten Friendly Little Ghosts Halloween trail organised by Gloucester BID.

Join in the free challenge to track down each ghost, hand-painted by local illustrator, Jemma Skidmore, collect the letters they're holding and solve the mystery word for the chance to win a £50 Gloucester Gift Card.

It's great to see that by encouraging visitors to explore the city centre, the trail is helping showcase everything Gloucester has to offer while supporting local businesses.

Pick up your spooktacular map from Gloucester Library at the new Northgate Street location, or download direct from the Gloucester Bid website.

As the clocks went back this weekend, we're shining a spotlight on one of Gloucester's best-loved timepieces.

The iconic Baker's Clock has been watching over Southgate Street since 1904. Built in Bristol, it was installed above G A Baker & Son's jewellers and has become one of the city's most recognisable landmarks.

But it's more than just a clock.

Beneath the clock face are five figures representing:

- an Irishwoman
- John Bull (personification of England)
- Father Time
- a Scotsman
- a Welshwoman

Every quarter of an hour, the figures come to life, striking their bells in turn for shoppers below.

[Video description: clips showcasing the Baker's Clock on Southgate Street on a sunny day. Beneath the traditional-looking clock are five figures behind bells representing Father Time and the countries of the United Kingdom. Text overlay reads: Did you know this clock has been a Gloucester icon for over a century? Watch to the end to see it chime. Baker's clock on Southgate Street was built in 1904. Every quarter hour the bells are struck by five figures representing Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales and Father Time. Here comes the chime...]

Could you be accidentally fly-tipping?

This Fight Fly-Tipping Fortnight, remember to...

✅ Check anyone taking away your waste is a registered waste carrier on the Environment Agency's website
✅ Ask your waste carrier for proof of disposal and get a receipt
✅ Use litter bins for small items of litter only, not household waste
✅ Only leave charity donations during opening hours or in designated donation points

We can all do our bit to make sure our waste ends up in the right place. Thank you for helping to keep Gloucester clean.

[Video description: "3 ways you may be accidentally fly-tipping (No.3 surprises most people). No.1 you found someone offering a cheap tip run online and now they've fly-tipped your waste all over the city. Make sure you check they're a registered waste carrier, ask for proof of disposal, get a receipt. No.2 the bin was full so you left your rubbish beside it instead. Leave your rubbish here, here, or here and it could be costing the taxpayer to clear it up. No. 3 you left donations outside a charity shop when it was closed. While well-meant, items left outside can get wet, dirty or damaged, often leaving the charity shop to pay for their disposal". A montage of clips is played beneath the text showing the city centre, a man fly-tipping rubbish, bins around the Gate Streets and charity shop entrances.]
