River left and river right in an estuary.

Following a recent incident where agencies got confused regarding river left and right when faced with an incoming tide on an estuary.

We all know river left is on the left bank as we look downstream and vice versa.

Just to clarify, when the tide is coming in and perhaps flooding up the river we still work with the direction of the river into the sea.

River left and river right does not swap over as the tide changes!

We have places on our next instructor programme running on the Menai Straights 23-27th Nov with assessment 7-9th Feb 2027. Pre requirements are a current Rescue 3 SFRBO certificate.

Couple of instructor courses coming up soon:
Rescue 3 SFRBO based on the Menai Straits 23rd-27th November with assessment 7-9 Feb. Must have a valid Rescue 3 SFRBO qualification to attend.
Rescue 3 SRT Instructor 14th-18th Dec assessment 8-10th Jan. Must have a valid Rescue 3 SRT qualification to attend.

Great weekend training in Bala with Lake District Search And Mountain Rescue Association - LDSAMRA on their Rescue 3 SRT recert, so much fun going to make it an annual event.

Congratulations to Simon, Justin, Dave and Andy from REACT Disaster Response for passing their Rescue 3 First Responder Instructor's programme; all the best for running your first courses.
Our next SRT instructor programme is running 14-18 dec with assessment 8-10 jan (best time of year to train in the water!)

As most of the Uk are plunged into drought and rivers are at a trickle there still plenty of water if you know where to go!

Look at this for a cracking place to work! Great to work with Lowther Forestry again on their Rescue 3 Safe Working in Water programme. As the UK goes into drought conditions still enough water to run our industrial programmes both up in Cumbria and Scotland.
