Keep up to date with our Area teams working in Drypool, Holderness, Sutton, Ings, Southcoates, Longhill & Bilton Grange and Marfleet Wards. The East area is made up of 7 areas including Drypool, Holderness, Sutton, Ings, Southcoates, Longhill & Bilton Grange, and Marfleet wards. The area team co-ordinates many services in the area including street care, housing and parks and gardens. The team also works closely with partner organisations including Humberside Police, NHS Hull, community wardens, children and young people’s services and local community and voluntary groups, to address the issues that you tell us are your community priorities.

Hull City Council Bereavement Services are holding a number of drop-in events to support the Get Your Wishes in Order campaign which encourages Hull residents to have open conversations about death and funeral wishes.

Although it is a difficult subject to discuss, we all need to let our families know what our wishes are following our death.

Local residents of any age are invited to drop into the event at Marfleet Group Practice to collect a free Get Your Wishes in Order folder or speak to the Hull Bereavement Services team.

You can find details about the event on the Bereavement Services website here Marfleet Group Practice drop-in event – Bereavement Services

Usfeul information from our colleagues at Humberside Fire & Rescue Service to help you enjoy bonfire night safely.

Enjoy Bonfire Night Safely

A few simple precautions can help ensure everyone enjoys a safe and memorable Bonfire Night.

Bonfire Night is a highlight of autumn, but it’s also one of the busiest nights for our firefighters. The safest way to enjoy it is by attending an organised firework display and saves you on the tidying up afterwards.

Humberside Fire and Rescue service is working with Humberside Police and local Councils to spot any illegal bonfires being built. Additionally, we're making sure fireworks are sold safely and legally.

If you ever suspect someone is selling fireworks illegally, you can report it to Trading Standards at 0808 223 1133 or on their website. For issues with fly-tipping, reach out to your local Council:

• Hull City Council – 01482 300300

Fireworks and bonfires can significantly impact the environment, wildlife, and air quality. Whenever possible, attend organised events to reduce the impact. Keep pets and wildlife in mind by reducing loud fireworks or timing displays responsibly.

Key safety reminders:
• Never use Bonfire Night to burn rubbish - take it to your local Council’s waste and recycling centre.
• Store wheelie bins securely to prevent deliberate fire setting.
• Buy fireworks with the UKCA mark from reputable sellers.
• Keep fireworks in a closed box.
• Follow the instructions on each firework.
• Light fireworks at arm's length.
• Stay a safe distance from them once they're lit.
• Never go back to a lit firework.
• Never throw fireworks.
• Fireworks cannot be set off in public streets or places.
• For your pets' wellbeing, keep them indoors during fireworks displays.
