Hull Pledge Supporting the LGBTQIA+ community in Kingston upon Hull

25/10/2026

The clocks have now changed, which means the days are now darker and people with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) begin to struggle.
Please remember that there are people there for you at the drop of a hat, check on your family and friends, look after yourself and remember you can always call organisations like Switchboard LGBT+ Support Line, Mind, Samaritans, and more ❤️

Luke Campbell, the Mayor of Hull and East Yorkshire has been accused not only of Cyber Flashing, but of allegedly firing the female member of staff he was harassing with the unwanted s*xual behaviour.

This from the party of "Protect the women and children", once again proving that the threat to society doesnt come from Trans+ people.

Facts always prevail, Hull Pledge stands with all victims of s*xual abuse, I hope the incredibly brave woman who came forward in spite of the position of power he holds finds justice.

The NHS has SIX core values:

1) Working together for Patients
2) Respect and Dignity
3) Commitment to Quality of Care
4) Compassion
5) Improving Lives
6) Everyone counts.

Limiting Trans+ patients to Wards and Facilities that align with their assigned s*x at birth rather than their identity flies in the face of every single value the NHS purports to strive toward.

Not only will it directly feed into institutional discrimination, but it will segregate patients based on protected characteristics under the UN's guidelines, including Legal Gender Recognition and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which states "No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment."
It will also lead to the segregation of individuals based on Gender Identity, including those born into bodies that do not meet the binary s*xes, such as inters*x people.

All of this is based on ideology. Hatred. Pseudoscience with no basis in evidence, papers written by people with anti-trans agendas.

At what point does this end? Where will the line be drawn? Limit hospital staff to wards and facilities that align with their s*x at birth? Prohibit people assigned male at birth from accessing wards designated for assigned female at birth and vice versa?
Segregated wards for Trans people?

This will cause a vast disparity between the emergent and hospital healthcare provisions for Cis vs Trans people, it will lead to a further level of distrust of institutions like the NHS, and ultimately it will cause Trans+ people to avoid or delay hospital care with potentially life ending consequences.

Nobody wins from this, everybody loses. Please contact your MP and demand an end to this cruel, hateful, and unprecedented discrimination.

The censoring of a "Protect the Dolls" T-Shirt while allowing varying degrees of abhorrent rhetoric once again shows the negative bias of the BBC.
"Protect the Dolls" is nothing but supportive of Trans people, in that prases case, specifically Trans Women and TransFemme people. Once again we see institutionalised rejection of any form of support for Trans+ people.
This is unsurprising, but nevertheless the BBC should hang their heads in shame.

I wish i had a more in depth knowledge about individuals who do Hull Street Angels incredible work, but what i do know is that it is just that, INCREDIBLE!
So a big thank you to Hull Street Angels and Jamie for all their hard work in keeping people within our cities communities safe! ❤️

With huge thanks and appreciation, City of Hull Street Angels is announcing that Jamie Lewis MBE will step down as Chair of Trustees at the end of 2026.

Jamie has guided the charity through an important period of growth, helping to strengthen our volunteer family, partnerships and foundations for the future. His leadership, commitment and genuine care for Street Angels have made a lasting difference.

Now begins the search for a new Chair to lead the charity into its next chapter.

We are looking for someone with leadership experience, a commitment to community safety and a passion for supporting volunteers to make a difference across Hull.

Could this be you, or someone you know?

Applications close on Friday 20 November 2026. Informal conversations are welcome - email [email protected] for the full recruitment pack.

Thank you, Jamie, for everything you have given to the Street Angels family.

This needs to happen each and every time until the abuse against Q***r people stops in the city's sports fixtures (and the surrounding areas as fans leave venues).

No matter what it chooses to call itself, there is a Far Right protest in town tomorrow, please be cautious if you are going into the city centre for Freedom Fest.

In my effort to hold the Humberside Police accountable for failures in Hate Crime cases, and to ensure the victims get the support and respect they deserve, i will now be joining the Independent Advisory Group, and I will also be a Key Individual Contact for the Police to contact to spread facts and not sensationalist rumours.
This comes after the events on Carr Lane earlier this month highlighted for me the need for clear and useful communication between the Police and the LGBTQIA+ community at a time when our relationships with institutions are strained to say the least.

You all know my staunch view is no police at pride, and that i continue to call for a Casey style review into the cultures at work within the Humberside Constabulary, my hope is that by joining the Independent Advisory Group I can be better placed to provide support while keeping a closer eye on how Police deal with Hate Crimes against our community; hopefully leading to a more cohesive, trusting, and functional relationship.
