1982 Huyton Squadron - RAF Air Cadets

As the days get longer, we’ll be raising the ensign on squadron of a parade night!

We’ll be raising it at the start of our parade nights and lowering it when it begins to rain, or when it goes dark.

Our cadets spent our Tuesday parade night planning, designing and building their own rockets!! 🚀

This STEM activity really put their creativity to the test, and the cadets took on the challenge !!

This weekend, 4 of our NCO’s attended the Wing Junior Non-commissioned Officers Course.

This course comprises training in multiple fields that make up the role of a JNCO. Some of these are.

- Teamwork 🫂
- Drill and Ceremonial 👔

This is a big step in the right direction for the NCO team as it gives them valuable experience in fields that are paramount in their role as JNCO’s making the Squadron run smoothly on a nightly basis.

On Thursday we celebrated our Recruits Passing Out and held our annual Awards Evening.

Our recruits made their cadet promise and became officially enrolled as cadets!

Congratulations to everyone who won an award!

Our squadron was also kindly gifted a defibrillator by our Civillian Comittee Chairman John Sharkey and his company. Thank you very much, sir!

It is with great sadness that we also said goodbye to our OC Fg-Off Champion-Williams. Fg Off Champion-Williams joined us 12 months ago and has worked hard with the staff and NCO team to ‘Make Huyton Great Again!’ (His words, not ours). It has been an honour to have him as our OC, and we wish him the best in his future endeavours!

With the stepping down of Fg Off Champion-Williams, we welcome in a new era for our squadron and a new OC! Our very own Sgt Holmes has stepped up and will be starting in her role as the new Officer Commanding of 1982 Huyton Squadron in January.

We hope all of our cadets had a wonderful night and we’d like to wish all of our cadets, staff, civilian committee, and families a very happy holidays and a happy new year!

Our cadets enjoyed a very festive quest blowing off some steam before the Christmas break!

Where this is the last parade night of fun for 2025, the cadets are all getting ready for our last parade night of the year, Presentation Evening! We can't wait to celebrate all the achievements our cadets have gained over the past year!
