A place for cadets, parents and adult leaders to get information on undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) through the Army Cadet Force.

If you're aged 14-25, a cadet or CFAV, then you can undertake your Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award through the Army Cadet Force. Many of the activities you do as a cadet already count towards your DofE sections, so with very little extra work you can gain a certificate recognised by colleges, universities and employers all over the UK. Speak to your detachment commander or County DofE Officer to find out how to enroll.

Cadets on their Gold DofE Residential this week have been visiting a range of sites across the city as part of their heritage focus! A train ride into the city took them to Edinburgh Castle and the Scottish Parliament, after which they undertook a challenging treasure trail around the city centre!

Another day, they visited Blackness Castle, where they took part in a meditative walk around the labyrinth!

Last week, alongside their heritage project, cadets on their Gold DofE Residential in Edinburgh enjoyed an exciting trip to Go Ape to challenge themselves with the high ropes course!

After a safety briefing, they tried out increasingly tricky moves, culminating in a long zip-wire!

Staff appreciation post!!

Activities like our national Gold DofE expeditions simply couldn’t happen without the support of a team of dedicated and hugely experienced directing staff. Our team for last week’s Drumshoreland expedition travelled from all corners of the UK, including Devon, Northern Ireland and the Scottish Isles, to enable this activity. Their skills, experience and enthusiasm are priceless!

Thank you all!

Congratulations to our 6 teams of participants who have completed their Gold DofE practice or assessed expedition this week!

This time last week, these young people didn’t even know each other, but now they have worked together to complete a 3- or 4-day self-sufficient expedition! From planning and shopping, to navigating, camping and working towards their team goals, they’ve challenges themselves and built their skills and confidence through the week!

Next stop, the Palace! 🎉
