Have your say on how Morecambe’s public spaces are protected.

Lancaster City Council is consulting on proposed Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) conditions aimed at reducing antisocial behaviour and protecting public spaces across the district.

Seven areas are included, two of them right here in Morecambe: the Morecambe PSPO, which covers the town centre, the West End and stretches of the promenade and beach, and a separate PSPO for Happy Mount Park.

Residents, businesses, visitors and partner organisations are all invited to take part. If you’re a BID member, this is a chance to make sure the experience of local businesses is heard, so please take a few minutes to share your views.

The consultation closes on Monday 2nd November 2026.

Take part here: https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/51a57e16819740b39c3841d21a7bd136

The maps for all seven proposed areas are available on the Lancaster City Council website.

A reminder too that the district’s existing dog control PSPOs remain in place. Dogs must be kept on a lead on Morecambe Promenade, and they are not allowed on Morecambe’s North and South beaches between 1st May and 30th September. Not complying with a PSPO can lead to a Fixed Penalty Notice of up to £100.

🥳 Thrilled to share that our ‘Eric Morecambe 100’ celebrations have been shortlisted in the Small Events category of the Lancashire Tourism Awards 2027!

Great recognition for all of the hard work, time and energy put in by organisations and residents across Morecambe to bring a little more sunshine to our town and make Eric’s anniversary one to truly remember. 👏

And a huge congratulations to our friends over at The Bay International Film Festival for their nomination in the same category – a good year for Morecambe!

⛔ Morecambe Town Council unanimously demands Lancaster City Council stop youth hut demolition ⛔

We are calling on Lancaster City Council to immediately stop the demolition of the former bus shelter on Central Drive. We don’t believe all of the options for this building have been properly explored.

With a bit of work and TLC this building could have another life.

🌿📺 Could a garden in Morecambe be heading for the small screen?

The production company behind the BBC's 'Secret Garden' is looking for special gardens and the people who love them for a new wildlife series - and they’re keen to hear from people across our local community.

It doesn’t have to be huge or perfectly manicured. They’re looking for gardens with character, a story or something fascinating going on when it comes to wildlife. 🐦🦔🦋

Maybe you have unusual visitors, wildlife you’ve come to know, a particularly special garden setting or simply a garden that means a lot to you.

You don’t need to be a gardening or wildlife expert - just curious about the wild world on your doorstep.

Think your garden could fit the bill? Or know someone whose garden would be perfect?
