The world would be pretty boring if every bird looked, acted, and thought exactly the same. The things that make us different—the quirks, oddities, passions, and peculiar perspectives—are often the things that make us interesting.

At the heart of this experience is the prototype *Artefact Wall* — created using historic stone and materials carefully retained on site and approved for reuse. Designed to celebrate, rather than reshape, these historic fragments, the wall combines traditional stonemasonry with contemporary garden design to reveal the beauty and stories already embedded within Newhailes.

You’ll hear directly from the designers about the vision for the Centenary Garden and meet the talented young stonemasons and craftspeople bringing it to life — the same team behind the stonework featured in the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026 Best in Show and Gold Medal-winning garden.

Exciting discoveries continue at the old glasshouse at Newhailes! 🏺🔍

Our ongoing archaeological investigations have uncovered an intricate network of heating systems beneath the structure, revealing how this remarkable glasshouse would have been kept warm to support the cultivation of plants.

These newly exposed features offer a fascinating glimpse into the ingenuity and engineering of the past, helping us better understand how the glasshouse functioned and the people who worked here. Every layer uncovered adds another piece to the story of Newhailes and its historic gardens.

We look forward to sharing more findings as the excavation progresses. Stay tuned for further updates from the dig!
