Misty mornings have lead to some stunning evening skies over the weekend, just in time for the starlings! We are currently seeing fairly large groups heading over from around 4:35pm, doing their classic pylon gather and then swooshing into the reedbed, what better way to start November! ✨

Forget ghosts and ghouls Newport Wetlands has a real-life melting monster hiding in the woods...🍄🧟‍♂️
This is the Shaggy Ink Cap, also known as the "Lawyer’s Wig" and it has one of the coolest lifecycles in the fungal kingdom! They start as tall, pristine white cylinders covered in shaggy, texturized scales. As they mature, the gills underneath begin to blush pink. Finally, they undergo a process called deliquescence. The mushroom literally dissolves itself into a gooey, jet-black liquid to release its spores! ☠️
This black liquid was actually used as writing ink in the past! ✒️
Keep your eyes peeled next time you're walking through the woods by the hide! Let us know in the comments if you've spotted any on your latest walk. 👇

Anghofiwch am ysbrydion a bwystfilod; mae anghenfil go iawn yn cuddio yn y coed yng Ngwlyptiroedd Casnewydd...🍄🧟‍♂️
Dyma'r Cap Inc Carpiog, sydd ag un o'r cylchoedd bywyd mwyaf rhyfeddol yn nheyrnas y ffyngau! Maen nhw'n dechrau fel silindrau tal, gwyn, wedi'u gorchuddio â graddfeydd blewog a gweadog. Wrth iddyn nhw aeddfedu, mae'r tagellau oddi tanyn nhw'n troi'n binc. Yn y diwedd, maen nhw'n mynd trwy broses o'r enw 'gwlybyredd' (neu doddi). Mae'r madarch yn toddi ei hun yn hylif du fel inc er mwyn rhyddhau ei sborau! ☠️
Yn y gorffennol, roedd yr hylif du hwn yn cael ei ddefnyddio fel inc ysgrifennu! ✒️

Recent sightings have seen Marsh Harrier most days, lots of Water Rail calling, Dunlin on the foreshore and a post storm flyby from a Spoonbill! It's a great time of year to get out and see what is passing through between those heavy downpours of rain.

Ydych chi'n chwilio am brofiad bywyd gwyllt unigryw ar Wastadeddau Gwent? 👀
Mae lleoedd yn llenwi'n gyflym ar gyfer ein teithiau cerdded tywys, 'Cornchwiglod a Byd o Adar Hirgoes'. Dewch i ddarganfod bywyd gwyllt tymhorol anhygoel Llynnoedd Allteuryn yng nghwmni ein tîm o arbenigwyr. Byddwch yn archwilio'r llynnoedd, yn gweld adar hirgoes diddorol yr hydref, ac yn dysgu am y gwaith cadwraeth hanfodol, dyddiol sy'n cadw'r dirwedd unigryw hon wedi'i amddiffyn.
