This week we have been exploring Halloween sensory trays. We talked about what it felt like, what it smelt like, what it looked like, what it sounded like when squished and what it tasted like as some children chose to have a little snack! Children use their senses to explore unfamiliar materials and we use these activities to introduce new vocabulary.

Don't forget it's our Halloween Disco on Saturday 24th at 3:30 to 5pm. Tickets can be purchased prior to the event for £5 through the QR link from the poster or bought on the door for £6.

This week the children have been using different types of construction in their play. They had a little help from the grown-ups but we have made car parks, jungles, animal enclosures and a trolls forest together. By combining construction and small world play, we can provide opportunities for our children to develop their imagination and lead their own play using their own ideas.

This week the children have been enjoying playing with our new water wall. They have been exploring volume and capacity, and creating ways to transport water from one place to another. This helps our children to develop hand-eye coordination and control when using resources.

We sometimes leave our container resources and trays outside to catch as much rain as we can so we can reuse the water in our play 🌧

If you can help, please email the preschool at [email protected].

Thank you.

This week we have been looking at our emotions/feelings and reading The Colour Monster story. We matched coloured pom-poms to the right emotion and talked about what might make us feel a certain way.

The children also made their own colour monster using different coloured bits of paper.

Can you think of a memory that makes you feel happy?
