CANCELLED!!!

Saturday 24 October, 8.30am update

The planned events for the Paisley Halloween Festival today (Saturday 24 October) have been cancelled, due to severe weather forecast and an amber weather warning for wind.

We’re really sorry to have to do this and for any inconvenience but your safety and enjoyment is our priority.

We have been monitoring the situation closely and have taken advice from our contractors and health and safety team.

Anyone who purchased tickets for the grandstand seating for tonight's event will be refunded and will be contacted directly by email.

We’d like to thank everyone who turned out to Friday’s festival and helped create such a fantastic atmosphere across the town.

I would like to bring your attention to OPERATION OVERLAP – a week dedicated nationally around e-bike enforcement, which is taking place from today, Monday 19th October.

Response officers, Community officers, Plain clothes officers , and Roads Policing officers in Renfrewshire are committed to tackling this type of criminality and will be out and about in our communities focussed on removing these dangerous bikes and riders from our streets. Only this weekend we have seen two road traffic collisions involving an e-bike and e-scooter where both thankfully, sustained non serious injuries. On both occasions riders have been reported for road traffic offences.

Can I ask where possible you try to support the enforcement activities of the police, and where you know the identity of offenders living in our communities who are committing these offences, you can report directly or anonymously using 101 or by calling Crimestoppers Phone: 0800 555 111 free from any phone, available 365 days a year. You can also so fill in an online form

I have included images of what is deemed illegal for use on roads (Electric motorbikes and Scooters) and not to be confused with Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles (EAPC) which are legal unless modified.

I am just so delighted that work has started on the new play park on Braehead Road. The upper Glenburn area hasn’t had a play park for decades- since the removal of the Langcraigs Drive play park that I used to play on when I was a child.
I know that it will be well used - it was supported by hundreds of signatures on a petition when I first approached the council to request it more than 15 yrs ago - and I hope the community look after it for the children.
Here are a couple of the design pics to help you understand what it will look like.

And if you’d rather just listen, that’s absolutely fine too! Come along for a relaxed afternoon of live music, ceilidh dancing, guest performers and good company.
