Onto the the time of year that can be a struggle for people, especially if it's the first year without a spouse, or a time where people feel alone and a burden on families (this is something we here alot)

We are dedicating the day to our lovely older community, Lui who has kindly agreed to be our poster boy 🧑‍🎄🫶 will be with us to welcome you over to Bank Street for some company, hot drinks and mince pies (we might be lucky enough to procure some home baking)

Please let us know if you think you might be interested or know anyone who would benefit ☃️🧑‍🎄🩵🎁

Here's a fun fact.
I'm terrified of fireworks.
Tonight I was driving through Bonnyrigg on visits just before 8pm, buzzing about how wonderful a community we are part of, when the youngins dressed in black ran at my car with a firework 😭 I had to put my foot down and it exploded right behind me. I was shaking. My lovely lady sat me down and made sure I was ok when I arrived!

If there are any carers out there over the next week, from any company that I can link in with and offer a lift - or managers who have staff on the ground who see this.....let me know I will do what I can to help.

As a carer of 27 years, and having only been driving for 4.5 - this is my worst time of year and the anxiety as a walker is real 😪

What a wonderful day in the precinct!
So thankful that (some) of The Trusted Companion Midlothian friends and family popped along to say hello.

Laura done a fabby job speaking to the public about the services we offer, and we met some lovely new friends.
Homecare, companionship and support built on a foundation of genuine care, passion and community. We cover all areas in Midlothian 🩵
Pop in and chat about care for your loved one.
It really is starting to feel like something special over at 4-6 Bank Street, Penicuik 🎃🖤🧙

We really do offer the highest standard of care, and having worked in care for as long as I have i feel I have earned the right to say that.
This week has brought a few challenges as any industry does....but I cannot praise the team enough for their compassion, advocating on behalf of the people we support and supporting each other

🩵 Being eyes and ears when there are challenges brought to light by changes in health, the continuity we offer makes this possible.
🩵 Caring enough about the people they visit to reach out for support (as it can be quite alot to take on when you really care) meaning they can continue to be deliver without feeling overwhelmed.
🩵 Taking on a new role because you have always wanted a meaningful 'job' and realising everything you thought care was, is only half of what carers do (what don't we do 😅)

We have had some not so great experiences this week too....ones that I/we can learn from and will use to evaluate and grow. I am definitely not without fault, but being accountable is probably the trait I value most. This service really is us pouring our heart and soul into an industry we believe is so undervalued, and the skills often go un noticed 🩵
Absolute gold standard team!! (A social workers words, not mine 🙂)

A huge thankyou to the people we support and their families who definitely demonstrated how care works both ways. Ensuring we are safe and stepping in to ensure carers didn't have a travel unnecessarily through the storm.

And to the team!! Looking after each other and offering to cover extra closer to home to make sure their colleagues were safe 🩵 (Angela you really are an asset to us in every way)

What a privilege it is to be part of a team where care really does mean care 🩵

22/10/2026

Now that we have the lovely Laura on board, she will be our Community and Companion Coordinator (we won't be putting that on a badge)
She has been involved in discussions with all the amazing local businessess working together to making sure the Penicuik precinct is alive with activities 🩵🎉

We will be holding our own events and making sure our office is a warm space to drop in for a cuppa when the cold gets too much, or if you are looking for a friendly face and blether.

(Note: we do have a toilet, but it is upstairs so not accessible to all)

Keep your eyes peeled if you are out and about as we will be updating local shop windows, as well as our notice board and of course we will be updating on here 🩵

🧑‍🎄 THE OFFICE WILL BE OPEN ON CHRISTMAS DAY FROM 10-1pm for hot drinks and mince pies for anyone who may be on their own ☃️

In the spirit of Halloween....here is a throwback of me and one of my childhood besties dressed up for a party.

I wanted to share this because, at The Trusted Companion, we believe there's something really special about taking the time to get to know the person behind the years

We all have stories to tell, friendships to treasure, memories to revisit and different hats we've worn throughout our lives.
As we grow older, those memories and connections become even more precious. But just as importantly, there are still new memories to make, goals to achieve and experiences to look forward to. 💙

This is Tracey in the hula, she is now a wife, a mum of 2 and a respected professional.
But we were once a couple of carefree bairns, with our whole lives to navigate 🩵

The time is coming where we may be looking to appoint a service manager 😳

How did we get here so quickly?......The service is going from strength to strength thanks to the team of incredible people who have given us their trust, the families who have taken the chance on a new care provider and of course people we support who invite us into their homes 🤗

We have developed some great relationships within the Midlothian Health and Social Care partership and third sector organisations, as well as neighbouring businesses.

I will always be hands on, my passion is care delivery and ensuring carers feel valued and cared for in their work place - they are definitely not just a number here. I have worked as a carer for too long and seen too many good people walk away.

Having a manager means I have someone to keep the compliance bang up to date (and standard) and to keep the service quality at it's peak from every angle.

I will be always be invested in the community and development of the service - but being out there with people is where I belong.

Excited for the future 🫶

Young or old, we all deserve to spend time with people who make us feel good, lift our spirits and bring out our best self.

Companionship isn't just about having someone there. It's about connection, shared interests, laughter, understanding and feeling like yourself again.

We offer personalised companionship, carefully matched to your pace, personality, interests and preferences. Whether it's getting out and about, enjoying a shared hobby, having a good chat or simply spending time in good company.

💙 Male-to-male companionship is something that's often overlooked, yet it can make such a difference.
Having another man to talk to, share experiences with, enjoy activities with or just have a laugh can help rebuild confidence, encourage independence and bring back that sense of belonging.

We have Jack, Brian and Ross out there doing just that 🫶

Everybody deserves to feel included, valued and connected we understand that the right company can make all the difference in helping someone feel like themselves again and enjoy life to the full.
Flexible and tailored support for you or a loved one
