Hate Crime Awareness Week continued yesterday with more outreach work across our communities.

PDREC, PCC and Community Builders have been out and about, popping into different community groups and businesses to raise awareness about hate crime, the different ways it can be reported, and how to use the TPR Centres of Hate Crime Community Asset Map.

We also provided information and handouts in different languages, helping to make this important information accessible to more members of our communities.

🙏 A huge thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy day to listen to us, ask questions and share their concerns and experiences.
Your voice really matters. Together, we can raise awareness, encourage reporting and help build safer, more supportive communities for everyone.

📢 Hate Crime Awareness Week

Our week continues with a productive meeting alongside some of Plymouth's Third Party Reporting Centres for hate crime.

During the session, staff received Third Party Reporting training from the Diverse Communities Team (DCT) at Devon & Cornwall Police. The training strengthened understanding of how to support victims and improve access to reporting hate crimes within our communities.
Thank you to DCT for delivering the training. Thank you to all the organizations for their ongoing dedication to meaningful conversations and partnership working to tackle hate crime in Plymouth and beyond.
Together, we can build safer, stronger, and more inclusive communities for everyone. 💙

📢 It is Hate Crime Awareness Week

This week is about awareness, conversation, community voices and action, but also about ongoing committment to tackle hate crime beyond this week.

🗺️ On Monday, we launched our Third-Party Reporting Centres for Hate Crimes Community Asset Map.This is a joint work between Plymouth and Devon Racial Equality Council, Community Builders and Plymouth City Council.

💬 On Tuesday, our Hate Crime Community Event at Genesis Building brought people together to learn about hate crime and ways of reporting it, explore the newly launched community asset map, and discuss some of the challenges and barriers people experience.
The event also provided a safe space to share experiences, concerns and suggestions. These conversations are important. We want community contributions to be heard, feedbacked and used to help create positive change.
We have also been joined by Cllr Chris Penberthy and members of the Communty Safety Team from Plymouth City Council

👏 Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the conversation meaningful.
The session was facilitated by Lavinia Porfir, Community Engagement Officer, alongside Martin Jared- Davis, Community Builder.

💜 Together, we can raise awareness, encourage reporting and tackle hate crime in Plymouth and beyond.

📢 Launching our Third-Party Reporting Centres Community Asset Map

As part of Hate Crime Awareness Week, we are pleased to launch the Third-Party Reporting Centres for Hate Crime Community Asset Map. 🗺️

The map makes it easier for people in Plymouth to find their nearest Third-Party Reporting Centre and access support to report hate crime.

Third-Party Reporting Centres are independent from the police and provide an alternative place where people can seek support with reporting hate crime, particularly if they do not feel comfortable approaching the police directly.

Hate Crime Awareness Week

This Community Asset Map has been developed through collaborative working between Plymouth and Devon Racial Equality Council (PDREC), Community Builders and Plymouth City Council.

This is an important step forward, but our work doesn't stop here. We will continue to strengthen the network, improve access to support and work together with communities and partners to challenge hate crime and build a safer, more inclusive Plymouth for everyone. 💙
