Halloween and Trick or Treaters.
It is getting to that time of year again, Halloween, where children will be out “Trick Or Treating”.

We understand that this time of year is not for everyone and so attached to this message is a “NO TRICK OR TREAT" poster which can be printed out and displayed on your front door, politely declining visitors to your door.

Feel free to share this around neighbours and family members, who may be more vulnerable than others and not want to be bothered at home.

A shout out to the council workers who have done such a great job in our parks; it’s been a particularly difficult summer with vandalism, criminal damage, arson, ASB, graffiti etc.

There has been a very difficult group of young people aged between 12-14 who have deliberately set about to cause damage in our parks, and trouble for residents and for local businesses. I will never understand how kids can cause damage to play equipment for other kids. And because of this the council has had to divert resources into daily cleansing of our parks, particularly Top Jubilee Park.

We as Councillors are quick to judge the ruling group on the Council for how they choose to spend Council Tax money. BUT, this summer I asked for additional help and as a result I’ve met some great lads who have been looking after our parks in the Ashby area and they have been met with some pretty gruesome tasks on a daily basis, particularly in top Jubilee, I’ve had some great chats with Keith and Calvin and others (I don’t remember everybody’s names, sorry!)

Credit where credit is due. These lads get some stick and I’m sure this post will attract some negative comments. But, remember, if you don’t tell us about a problem, we can’t attempt to fix it for you. If you live in the Ashby Central area you can contact us at any time. We can’t make promises but we can certainly try to get things sorted.

Anglian Water - collection point for water for those still affected

Update from Anglian Water below.

We are not at all happy with the way this emergency situation has been handled, it’s been completely chaotic with water bottles handed out at random with priority customers missing out and we are already asking questions. A utility company that hands its shareholders millions of pounds whilst treating its customers this way is disgraceful. We hope that the supply is reinstated urgently.

From Anglian Water:

"The first burst pipe has now been temporarily repaired and water is flowing back into the local storage reservoir. The reservoir has started supplying water back into the network, but customers may still experience low pressure, intermittent supplies or no water while the system recovers.

Our teams are still on site and will be repairing the second burst pipe throughout the day. Until this this is fully fixed, water supplies and pressure may still be unstable with some customers without water."

Lots of activity at Top Jubilee Park this morning. They've even sent the Inspector to examine all the equipment to ensure it's safety. There has been so much damage caused recently by kids 12-14 yrs old - one even took bolt croppers to the fixings on the climbing frame - how could a child do this knowing another child could be seriously injured? 🤷‍♀️. Absolutely mindless, selfish vandalism and criminal behaviour from kids so young.

Also, the dilemma of the gate continues. Again bolt croppers have been used, but the council are on it immediately. You may as well give up kids, you've all been rumbled and if you and your parents haven't had a police visit yet, then chances are you soon will be. Remember the park area, and Belmont Street are all covered by CCTV. They know who you are.

Remember I posted about the criminal damage and antisocial behaviour in top Jubilee Park? Since then there have been further criminal instances and a serious assault on a resident. As a result CCTV has been installed, and further methods are being considered. Please help the residents and respond to the survey below. Please also bear in mind that the Lindley Street entrance is only a few feet away and remains open.

We are pleased to announce that the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) consultation for Jubilee Park is now live.

The proposed PSPO aims to help ensure Jubilee Park remains a safe, welcoming and enjoyable space for everyone. Before any decision is made, we are seeking the views of residents, park users, local businesses and other interested stakeholders.

We encourage you to take part in the consultation and share your views by completing the online survey. Your feedback will help inform any future decisions regarding the proposed PSPO.
