🟢 Help us create a greener Shropshire.

Cleaner journeys mean a greener Shropshire. We aim to cut transport emissions by supporting more sustainable ways to travel and making cleaner vehicles easier to use. This is why decarbonising transport in Shropshire is one of the five key objectives of the draft Local Transport Plan.

❗ We want to hear your views on how we can cut carbon from transport and shape a cleaner, greener future for travel across Shropshire.

We're over half-way through our six-week consultation and there’s still time to share your views before Monday 16 November.

Two roundabouts on the Battlefield Link Road in Shrewsbury are to be resurfaced overnight from Mon 16 to Sat 21 Nov.

Work will be carried out from 9pm to 6am under a road closure on the A528 Ellesmere Road Roundabout, and the A5124 Enterprise Roundabout.

🚧 Only one roundabout will be closed at a time, with a signed diversion in place. The diversion routes vary depending on which roundabout is being resurfaced.

Work will be carried out by Kier Infrastructure on behalf of Shropshire Council.

ℹ️ This year we're resurfacing more than 90 stretches of road across Shropshire, and more than 70 have been surface dressed.

🚌 New mid-Wales to south Shropshire bus service starts today

From today, the new X81 connects:
📍 Newtown
📍 Montgomery
📍 Chirbury
📍 Churchstoke
📍 Bishop’s Castle
📍 Clun
📍 Craven Arms

With four journeys in each direction, Monday to Saturday, the new service provides better links between south Shropshire and mid-Powys, including connections with rail services at Newtown and Craven Arms.

The X81 is a partnership between Shropshire Council and Powys County Council and is operated by Tanat Valley Coaches.

It's a great new cross-border connection for our communities. Why not give the X81 a try?

🚌 Shrewsbury Park and Ride from today (Monday 2 November).

The Park and Ride operates Monday to Saturday from three sites.

▶️ Oxon (behind Bicton Heath Co-op – SY3 5AD)
- First bus leaves Oxon at 7.20am, with buses every 20 minutes until 8am.
- Buses run every 12 minutes between 8am and 5pm.
- A new evening service runs every 20 minutes from 5pm until 9.40pm, with the last bus back from the town centre at approximately 9.50pm.
- The evening service is a stopping service, meaning passengers can get on and off at stops along the route.

▶️ Harlescott (next to Tesco Extra – SY1 4HA)
- First bus leaves Harlescott at 7.20am, with buses every 20 minutes until 8am.
- Buses run every 12 minutes between 8am and 5pm.
- A new evening service runs every 20 minutes from 5pm until 9.40pm, with the last bus back from the town centre at approximately 9.50pm.
- The evening service is a stopping service, meaning passengers can get on and off at stops along the route.

▶️ Meole Brace (behind Darwin’s Edge housing development – SY3 9PW)
- Buses run every 20 minutes.
- The first bus leaves Meole Brace at 7.20am and the last bus leaves the town centre at approximately 6.30pm.

🚍 All Shrewsbury Park & Ride services are operated by Hotspur Buses from 2 November.

▶️ Fares
- Return journeys are £2 per adult, £1 for concessionary pass holders and free for accompanied children under 16.
- A 5-Day Saver ticket costs £7.50 via the Hotspur Bus website (look for the mobile tickets tab)

❗ There is no service on Sundays or bank holidays, excluding Good Friday

This week is national Youth Work Week.

Youth Work Week celebrates the people, places and opportunities that help young people grow, belong and thrive.

To mark the week we spoke to some of our team about youth work and why it matters.

Also this week, we'll be launching a survey for young people, meeting our Youth Advisors and highlighting some of the organisations working with young people in Shropshire. Watch this space!

During National Youth Work Week, Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery is celebrating the Young Collective as a two-way partnership.

SMAG benefits from young people's ideas, creativity and fresh perspectives, while the programme gives participants practical opportunities to build confidence and develop skills.

Working alongside museum professionals, young people explore everything from curation and collections to marketing, consultation, learning, merchandising and welcoming visitors.

One participant described how the Young Collective helped develop their “confidence and teamworking and listening skills by sharing ideas.”

More than 170 young people have engaged with the Young Collective since its pilot, gaining hands-on experience while making a real contribution to the museum.
