🎖️ A treasured reunion at Castleberg Hospital 🎖️
Staff at Castleberg Hospital in Settle recently helped 87-year-old George ‘John’ Grubb from Glusburn reconnect with an important part of his military history.
John, who served in the Parachute Regiment with the Royal Artillery, had sadly lost his beret and other regimental keepsakes over the years. Knowing how much these items meant to John and his family, his consultant, Dr Sarah Stowe, contacted the Parachute Regimental Association to see if they could help.
Members of the association were quick to respond. David Webster and Gary Teale from the West Yorkshire branch The Parachute Regimental Association - Regimental Headquarters visited Castleberg Hospital to present John with a new maroon beret, together with a pennant and certificate, restoring a cherished connection to his military service.
Helen Mace, Castleberg Team Leader, said: “We were so pleased to be able to help John. It was an emotional but uplifting visit for us all. The presentation meant a great deal to him and it was wonderful to see the smile on his face when he received his beret.”
Thank you to everyone involved in making this special moment possible. ❤️
