This week we’re celebrating Children of Foster Carers' Week and recognising the important part birth children play in fostering families.

When a family fosters, it isn’t only the adults whose lives change. Birth children open their homes, share their families and experiences, and often offer friendship, reassurance, and a sense of belonging to the foster children who come to live alongside them.

At Fostering Connections, we recognise that birth children are part of the fostering journey, too.
Their thoughts and feelings matter, and we want them to feel listened to, included, and supported as their family grows and changes.

So this week, we want to say a very special thank you to all the children of our foster carers. For the kindness you show, the memories you share, and the part you play in welcoming another child into your family... you are an important part of our village.

It truly takes a village... 🏡
Sometimes, children need a home at very short notice.
This weekend, some of our foster carers welcomed new children into their homes.

What has been wonderful to see is how our wider fostering community has immediately come together around them, offering advice, kindness, reassurance, and, of course, a little humour along the way.

At Fostering Connections, we believe fostering is about so much more than providing a safe and loving home. It’s about building relationships, creating understanding, and walking alongside children and families through every step of their journey.

For foster children, we focus on creating safe, nurturing environments where they can feel secure, understood, and able to thrive.
We work closely with our foster carers to ensure children receive the patience, compassion, and consistency they deserve.

For birth children, we recognise the important role they play too. We engage with them, listen to their feelings, and help them understand the fostering journey, ensuring they have space to ask questions and access support when they need it.

For foster families, we’re there every step of the way... with dedicated social work support, regular visits, high-quality training, out-of-hours assistance, and a community that understands.
