Ghana Integrated Iron & Steel Dev. Corporation - Giisdec

On Friday, 27th March 2026, GIISDEC embarked on a working visit to the Gas Processing Plant (GPP) at Atuabo in the Western Region, ahead of the implementation of the National Scrap Metal Policy.

The delegation was led by the Chief Executive, Hon. Williams Okofo-Dateh, together with the Deputy Chief Executive, Hon. Phillip Amponsah, and the Director of Corporate Affairs & International Relations, Mr. Nasurulai Abdulai.

The purpose of the visit was to explore operational insights and identify potential areas of collaboration in support of the effective rollout of the Scrap Metal Policy.

On 17th February 2026, a team from the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation (GIISDEC), together with a representative from the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA), held a community engagement at Adum Banso. The engagement was led by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Operations), Hon. Philip Oppong Amponsah.

The Chiefs and people of Adum Banso warmly received the delegation, together with distinguished dignitaries including: Hon. Sophia Auben, District Chief Executive of Mpohor, Representative of the Member of Parliament and Mr. Frank Bonsu, Western Regional Director, GGSA.

The engagement aimed to sensitise the community on the mandate and operations of GIISDEC ahead of the upcoming Mineral Resource Estimation (MRE) to be undertaken in partnership with GGSA.
The team also reaffirmed Government’s commitment to supporting the development of Adum Banso and advancing Ghana’s iron and steel industry.
