His Excellency, President Adama Barrow has described a layer production sub-project co-financed by the GIRAV project and Saadis Investment Group dubbed SIG Poultry Farm as a “big success”. He made the commendation on Sunday evening during a visit to the firm farm in Abuko as part of his ongoing “Meet The People Tour”.

President Barrow and entourage were taken on a tour of the farm by the proprietor Mr. Basaadi Jabbi. Speaking after the tour of the farm, he said: “Overall, we are very happy. He encouraged other farmers to emulate SIG Poultry Farm’s bright example towards contributing to national development.
He reiterated the importance his government attaches to private sector involvement in the agricultural sector to help create jobs and stimulate economic growth and development.

SIG Poultry farm is one of 19 SMEs that received a grant of more than D250million dalasi from The Gambia Government-World Bank funded GIRAV project in 2023 to expand and scale up production. The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by the government and the World bank to transform the Gambia’s agriculture from subsistent to a market-driven sector, leaving no one behind.
